As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for strategy games that span across eras and genres, I’m absolutely thrilled about the 2025 lineup! The upcoming releases promise to deliver an engaging, captivating experience that will surely keep me glued to my screen for countless hours.
2025’s Top Strategy Games: The Ultimate Guide!
50 – Panzer Strike

News on Panzer Strike, a new RTS game by ISAK Team, was recently released. This upcoming title promises an “authentic” experience reminiscent of RTS games from the 2000s, such as Blitzkrieg and Sudden Strike. If you take a look at it, you’ll notice similarities in style. The game boasts large maps, numerous units, and emphasizes combat over base-building mechanics.
49 – Ancient Arenas: Chariots
In 2014, the game Qvadriga was extremely popular. It stood out due to being a distinctive turn-based or real-time chariot racing simulator with intricate gameplay mechanics. What made it different from other racing simulators was its Roman quadriga setting. Despite receiving generally positive reviews, Turnopia didn’t fully utilize this setting and expand upon the concept. That’s exactly what the creators of Ancient Arenas: Chariots are aiming to achieve. At this point, not much is known about it, but it’s anticipated to serve as a spiritual successor to Qvadriga.
48 – Rise of Industry 2

Originally, Rise of Industry was a game that combined management and tycoon genres, taking place during the early 20th century where players stepped into the role of an aspiring industrialist. The only DLC for the game, titled 2130, briefly ventured the series into the 22nd century. Now, five years after the launch of Rise of Industry (RoI), Rise of Industry 2 is returning to the 1980s, set in the United States, where you strive to transform your American dream into a tangible reality.
47 – Capital Command
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve found myself at the throne of the strategy genre, having toppled Paradox Interactive in 2024. Now, with a grip on almost every upcoming strategy game set to launch in the coming years, I eagerly await the release of Capital Command. This sandbox-style space sim places me in command of my own custom warships, ready for interstellar battles ahead!
46 – Fata Deum
In today’s gaming landscape, quality god games are rare finds. That’s why the emergence of new companies promising such games is always an exciting event. One such company is Fata Deum, which draws inspiration from classic god games. Players can choose to be either a benevolent deity, guiding your pixelated followers towards prosperity, or a malicious one, leading them down a path of corruption, violence, sin, and the summoning of demons. If you’re interested, a demo is available for you to explore!
45 – Kriegsfront Tactics

Kriegsfront Tactics is an “RPG featuring turn-based mecha tactics, set in an alternate 1970s Southeast Asia.” If you’re not already intrigued enough to wonder “What on earth is that all about?”, then I’m at a loss for what would grab your attention. Despite the fact that commanding a squad of mechs might seem like old news, this game’s PS1/PS2-style graphics, interface reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid, and unique Southeast Asian setting are what sparked my curiosity and earned it a place on this list. You can start playing the prologue immediately by clicking on this link.
44 – Commander: Europe at War
Although some might view this as dishonest, isn’t it fair to say that since Matrix just announced a 3D remake of the 2007 game Commander: Europe at War, it’s still relatively new? The remake is set to enhance the AI, upgrade the user interface, and introduce fresh units and diplomacy systems. It offers six campaigns for you to explore, ranging from the North Atlantic to Western Russia. The graphics appear visually appealing with their soft pastel color scheme.
43 – Fragile Existence
Once again, Hooded Horse has released a title named Fragile Existence, which is a real-time strategy game set in space. Your mission is to prevent the extinction of humanity. This game seems quite similar to Planetary Annihilation. You’ll build space colonies, expand your military force, and confront formidable adversaries. What more could a gaming enthusiast ask for?
42 – Radio Commander: Pacific Campaign
During my interview with the Radio Commander: Pacific Campaign team back in December 2022, I had anticipated the game to be released in 2023. However, as another year has passed without any significant updates, a demo was finally unveiled at Steam Next Fest a couple of weeks ago. I’ve given it a try and found it enjoyable so far, but I’ll reserve final judgment until I see how they handle the naval aspects. Here’s hoping the game meets the high expectations that have been set.
41 – Nova Roma

2025 promises to be an exciting year for city-builder enthusiasts, given the games that are in development! One of them is Nova Roma, developed by Lion Shield and published by Hooded Horse. In this game, you’ll embark on a journey as a leader of a small group of citizens after the fall of Rome, seeking new territories to establish a new Rome. You’ll focus on building your economy, utilizing natural resources, pleasing the Gods, creating laws, and ensuring the happiness of your people. I can’t wait to see how Nova Roma compares with other games in this genre!
