As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the success of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is nothing short of phenomenal. It’s like watching a freight train gather momentum, barreling down the tracks, leaving everything in its wake. The game has truly set new standards for what a first-person shooter can achieve.
The sixth installment of Call of Duty: Black Ops, developed by Treyarch, continues to break records. It was the top-selling video game in October and boasted the biggest launch ever for the franchise. Now, it has yet another accolade: it’s the most played game on Xbox.
It’s clear that the release of Black Ops 6 on Game Pass has significantly boosted subscriptions. Moreover, making this popular game accessible through Game Pass has attracted a larger audience. Although Microsoft doesn’t publicly disclose specific figures for Game Pass subscribers or player counts, they do keep tabs on the most-played games in their platform. Unsurprisingly, Call of Duty now holds the top spot, ousting the previous leader, Fortnite.
Among the remaining top ten games I’m excited about, there’s my favorite sandbox builder, Minecraft, making another appearance. Also, the action-packed worlds of ROBLOX, Apex Legends, and Grand Theft Auto V are calling out to me. Not to forget the intense tactical gameplay of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, the immersive storytelling of GTA V, and the thrilling survival experience in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. And here’s a bonus – three of these games, Minecraft, Black Ops 6, and STALKER 2, are now part of my Game Pass collection!
Furthermore, some of the listed game titles aren’t individual games but rather collections or expansions. For instance, “Call of Duty” on the list refers to the entire series, including “Warzone,” as it’s part of the player count. Similarly, “Grand Theft Auto V” includes “Grand Theft Auto Online.” It’s quite remarkable given the substantial sum Microsoft spent on acquiring Activision Blizzard King and its assets. So far, this acquisition seems to be proving beneficial.
