One Piece: 6 Next Haki Upgrades For Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa Zoro, the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, is a remarkably strong fighter determined to become the world’s greatest swordsman, surpassing Dracule Mihawk. He’s spent years perfecting his skills, and since he doesn’t have a Devil Fruit power, he relies entirely on Haki in battle. Zoro is clearly one of the most skilled Haki users in the later part of the One Piece story, but he still has potential to unlock even more powerful abilities. As the story progresses, Zoro is expected to further improve his Haki, with the author, Oda, planning several upgrades for him.

Internal Destruction Haki

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has confirmed that Zoro focuses his Haki abilities on Armament Haki. This means he’ll likely improve this type of Haki the most. Currently, Zoro can only use the basic form of Armament Haki on his own, though his sword, Enma, sometimes enhances it. However, Zoro’s personal control over advanced Armament Haki is still limited. He needs to strengthen this ability to inflict more damage on his opponents, potentially even without physically hitting them.

As a huge Zoro fan, I’m really excited by the idea of him mastering internal cutting! It’s a terrifying technique – being able to damage someone internally without a visible wound makes a swordsman unbelievably dangerous. I think that’s where the story is heading with the Elbaf arc and beyond, and honestly, it’s the perfect way to push Zoro to the next level. If he pulls it off, he could become so strong he’s a true rival to Mihawk, which is a fight I’d love to see!

Future Sight Observation Haki

Zoro possesses all three forms of Haki, but he’s still developing his mastery over them. After the timeskip, he already knew how to use both Armament and Observation Haki. His Observation Haki had improved to the point where he could detect most dangers, though he hasn’t fully maximized its potential.

Zoro’s ability to sense opponents (Observation Haki) is currently just okay, but he’ll need to significantly improve it if he wants to defeat someone like Mihawk. He can do this by challenging himself in tough battles, which will help him unlock the next level of this power. Crucially, he needs to learn to anticipate his opponents’ moves – essentially, see the future. If he can master this ‘Future Sight,’ he’ll be able to stay ten steps ahead. Facing Mihawk, who has incredibly sharp perception, Zoro absolutely needs this ability, and it’s a skill he must obtain by the end of the series.

Controlled Supreme King Haki

Zoro first demonstrated the power of Conqueror’s Haki during the Wano Country Arc. He unknowingly unleashed it when he cut Kaido, and Kaido immediately recognized the ability upon examining his wound. This marked the first sign that Zoro possessed this rare and powerful Haki.

I’ve noticed Zoro’s Conqueror’s Haki really came out during his fight with King – it was amazing to watch him win so decisively, and he even held his own against someone as strong as Lucci. But it seems like Zoro isn’t fully aware of how he’s using it. It’s actually Enma, his sword, that’s doing a lot of the work, bringing out his Haki without him even realizing it. Gaban pointed out that Zoro won’t reach his full potential until he learns to control it himself. It’s clear that mastering his Conqueror’s Haki is going to be a huge step forward for him in the future of One Piece.

Long Ranged Haki

Haki is a versatile power with many applications. We saw this clearly in the Wano Country Arc when Shanks used his Conqueror’s Haki from a great distance to instantly stop Admiral Aramaki, effectively forcing him to withdraw from Wano. This display of long-range Haki was incredibly powerful and further establishes Shanks as one of the strongest characters in the series.

Zoro needs to significantly improve his skills with Conqueror’s Haki if he wants to become as strong as characters like Shanks and Mihawk. Currently, he relies heavily on his sword, Enma, to use this ability. As he grows stronger, Zoro will likely master Conqueror’s Haki to a much greater degree, and might even learn to use it without physically touching his blade.

Shockwave Haki

In the world of One Piece, a few swordsmen stand out with abilities beyond typical sword fighting. Rocks D. Xebec, Gol D. Roger, and Red-Haired Shanks are prime examples – they can generate powerful shockwaves with their blades. Instead of just cutting, their attacks deliver crushing blows that send enemies flying, almost like being hit with a hammer. This unconventional technique is so unique some might not even consider it traditional swordsmanship, but it’s undeniably strong. It’s a skill Zoro could greatly benefit from as the story reaches its climax.

I’ve noticed a pattern with this incredible power – it seems tied to Conqueror’s Haki. Each time Roger, Rox, or Shanks use it, they pour a massive amount of that Haki into their swords right before releasing this devastating shockwave. It doesn’t cut opponents; it just crushes them. It makes me think that if Zoro could master this technique, he’d instantly become strong enough to rival the Yonko – the most powerful pirates in the world.

Permanent Sword Blackening

One of Zoro’s most significant potential powers in the final part of the One Piece story could be the ability to permanently darken his swords. We saw in the Wano Country Arc that it is possible to blacken blades, but the specific method remains a mystery. It clearly involves infusing the swords with Haki, but there’s likely more to the process than just that.

I’m completely fascinated by the idea of blackening a blade! We’ve seen it with the incredible Dracule Mihawk, and even Ryuma, the legendary Sword God of Wano, could do it. It’s clear Zoro’s journey will involve mastering this technique too. I really believe that by the end of One Piece, he’ll not only upgrade his swords but permanently blacken them, taking his swordsmanship to a level we can barely imagine!
