Regarding the games specifically, Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth are predominantly strategy role-playing games (SRPG) set in a mystical, almost medieval-like universe.
Though the protagonist’s memory loss is a significant aspect of the plot, it ventures into unpredictable and intriguing territories if you choose to follow along.
At a minimum, this series provides robust and intellectually engaging strategy gameplay that will appeal to strategy enthusiasts, accompanied by exceptional narrative storytelling.
4 Etrian Odyssey

In the realm of gaming during the Wii era, I was part of an exhilarating adventure. Nintendo’s knack for innovation shone brighter than ever with this console, pushing boundaries and experimenting with some truly outlandish concepts. Trauma Center, a series that initially found its footing on the DS, ultimately thrived predominantly on the Wii.
In the not-too-distant future, humanity has largely eradicated common illnesses, but there remain some persistent cases. Behind the scenes, secretive groups operate, and the narrative unfolds in a way that’s more gripping than anticipated.
In the latest addition, titled Trauma Team, there’s a strong influence of visual novel style narrative featuring six primary characters. When it comes to the game mechanics, Trauma Center involves managing various traumas such as treating burns, setting bones, and ensuring your patients continue to breathe, among other medical tasks.
Combined with the Nunchuck and Wii Remote, you had a lot of ways to get into the bloody action.
2 Shin Megami Tensei

It was just a matter of time before we delved into Shin Megami Tensei, or SMT as it’s often called. This isn’t just a widely acclaimed role-playing game franchise; it boasts an impressive array of titles. In fact, there are quite a few releases that haven’t made their way westward from Japan yet.
Despite facing numerous challenges, it managed to find a warm reception in the international community, largely due to its recent titles like SMT V: Vengeance. Additionally, it offers immensely satisfying tactical, grid-based experiences similar to the Devil Survivor series on DS and later 3DS systems.
Regardless of the game you choose, you’ll encounter a challenging, frequently post-apocalyptic scenario teeming with monsters to battle, some of which can be utilized as your own weapons. The choice you make in all Shin Megami Tensei games significantly impacts the storyline and offers multiple grim, potential conclusions.
Although the Story of Might and Magic games can be extremely challenging and sometimes harsh, players who persevere will encounter intricately crafted narratives that delve into moral ambiguities, provoking deep thought.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the diverse gaming experiences the Persona series has offered! From the classic dungeon crawling and strategic gameplay reminiscent of Persona Q, to the intense fighting encounters found in Persona 4 Ultimax, and even the rhythmic joy of Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight. It’s truly amazing to see such a versatile franchise!
While SMT games tend to be grim and harsh, the Persona series is characterized by a lively spirit and defiance, even amidst overwhelming obstacles and terrifying creatures. Above all, the Persona series introduces us to endearing protagonists and antagonists that you can’t help but support.
