Key Takeaways
- Warlock’s exotic Ballidorse Wrathweavers are disabled due to a high-damage bug.
- Titan’s Sentinel Shield super is also receiving a nerfs in mid-December due to a damage bug.
- Ultimately, the community is divided about Bungie’s handling of the situation which allows Titans to continue using the super.
As a long-time Guardian and Shadebinder Warlock player, I find myself both frustrated and intrigued by Bungie’s recent announcements regarding the nerfs to my beloved Ballidorse Wrathweavers and the Titan’s Sentinel Shield super.
Bungie has shared that the powerful Warlock artifact, Ballidorse Wrathweavers, has been temporarily taken out of action because of an issue causing excessive damage, while adjustments to the Titan’s Sentinel Shield super are planned for December. Being a game that evolves with regular content updates and patches, Destiny 2 is always in a state of flux. However, as extensive as this game is, occasional tweaks like these can unexpectedly influence other aspects.
In conjunction with the commencement of Act 2 in Episode Revenant, Bungie introduced a significant mid-season overhaul for Destiny 2. One of the most noticeable modifications made to Destiny 2 was enhancing roaming supers, which had often been overlooked in favor of more powerful burst supers such as Golden Gun or Nova Bomb over the years. Although this update revitalized certain player strategies, it seems to have produced unexpected consequences for specific subclasses.
It’s been reported that Shadebinder Warlocks using Ballidorse Wraithweavers exotic gauntlets have been dealing an extraordinarily high amount of damage due to a recurring glitch with damage over time effects. This allowed players to kill most bosses in the game almost instantly, drawing the attention of Bungie developers who swiftly disabled the exotic item. At this point, there’s no clear solution for Warlocks in the immediate future as Bungie only mentioned they would share more information later on.
Destiny 2 Planning Nerfs to Sentinel Shield and Ballidorse Wrathweavers
Apart from Warlocks, Bungie has also acknowledged an issue with the Titan’s Sentinel Shield super, which is causing more damage than intended at this moment. When players use a melee attack during the Sentinel Shield, they are dealing substantial harm. Unlike Warlocks, Bungie intends to correct this in mid-December by lowering the damage output, but even then, it will still be higher than before the recent Destiny 2 Update 8.1.5.
The back-to-back adjustments have sparked debate among the community regarding Bungie’s approach towards these issues. Although Destiny 2 has instances where faulty equipment is ignored, Warlock players express frustration that their exotic is promptly disabled, while Titan players can continue using their bug for a little while longer. However, from a game balance perspective, it seems logical to prioritize the Warlock issue given its potential to significantly disrupt the game, making tough activities too easy in just seconds.
