Amazon Luna No Longer Allowing Users to Buy Games

As a Luna fan, I just got the news – they’re changing how we get games! Starting April 10th, you won’t be able to buy games individually or subscribe to channels like before. But don’t worry, it’s not shutting down! Amazon is really focusing on Luna GameNight and other fun experiences instead, which actually sounds pretty cool. So, it’s a shift in how we play, but Luna is still around!

Amazon Luna is a service that lets you stream and play games on devices like computers and phones. It has two subscription options: Standard and Premium. The Standard tier is included with your Amazon Prime membership and gives you access to a selection of games that changes regularly. For $9.99 a month, Luna Premium provides a much bigger library of games to choose from. As of October 2025, Amazon Luna is the main brand, having combined with the previous Prime Gaming service.

Amazon Luna No Longer Allows Individual Game or Third-Party Subscription Purchases

Amazon Luna is changing how users access games. Starting April 10th, subscribers can no longer buy games directly through the Luna service or access game stores like Ubisoft+ through it. Amazon announced this change in an email to subscribers. The ‘Bring Your Own Library’ feature is also no longer available, and any subscriptions purchased through Luna will be canceled with the next billing cycle. While Amazon isn’t offering refunds, players can still enjoy games they’ve already bought by linking their Luna account to platforms like GOG Galaxy or the EA App on their computers.

Players can download their saved game data for affected titles until June 10th, although there’s no guarantee it will work perfectly right away. Unlike Google Stadia, Amazon Luna isn’t shutting down – it’s still running and Amazon is focusing on expanding its gaming options, including GameNight and other currently available streaming games. As compensation for the changes, Amazon is offering all Luna customers a free subscription to Amazon Luna Premium, though the length of this offer is currently unknown.

Amazon’s Monthly Freebies Are Not Going Anywhere

Even with recent changes, Amazon Luna will continue to offer free PC games each month. That means Amazon Prime members can still get PC games from GOG Galaxy, the Epic Games Store, and the Amazon Games app without paying extra. This month’s free games include titles like Total War: Three Kingdoms, Rebel Galaxy, and Deep Sky Derelicts.

Man, April has been rough as an Amazon subscriber. First, they messed with the ad-free tier on Prime Video, and now I’m wondering what’s going on with Luna. I’m still using the game streaming service, but I’m really hoping Amazon has some plans to get more people on board. It’s a good service, but they need to do something to grow the player base!
