Which Game Mode Should You Pick in Soulmask?

Soulmask offers three game modes, each with a slightly different focus. While the modes aren’t hugely different, you’ll notice changes in things like how quickly you earn experience, what’s needed for crafting, and how much damage you deal in combat. The game also features two different maps, and choosing one over the other can significantly change how you experience the game.

Soulmask Tribe, Survival, and Warrior Mode

In Soulmask, you can choose from three different ways to play, each changing the game’s focus between building up your tribe and fighting adventures. The standard mode, Survival, will feel familiar to anyone who enjoys survival and crafting games. Generally, these modes change how quickly you advance and how challenging the battles are. Some also offer special features, such as different technology options and enemy behavior.

Survival Mode

Survival mode in Soulmask offers a complete PvE experience, letting you enjoy all aspects of the game – exploring, building a base, going on adventures, raiding, and battling bosses. It’s very similar to the original early access version, but we’ve made it easier to progress in the mid and late game. If you’re new to Soulmask and want the full survival and crafting experience, we recommend starting with Survival mode.

Soulmask’s PvP mode is similar to its PvE Survival mode, but it’s designed for faster gameplay. It has limits on how many people can be in a tribe, and several improvements have been made to reduce frustration. For example, powerful gear won’t automatically dominate weaker players – the game removes damage reduction when fighting opponents with less advanced equipment.

Tribe Mode

Tribe mode is designed for players who love constructing bases, managing their tribe, and defending against attacks. It offers all the features of Survival mode, but emphasizes growing and strengthening your tribe. Here are some of the key differences and advantages of playing in Tribe mode:

  • You may now encounter random merchant events and wandering merchants.
  • The tech tree has been tweaked to give you faster access to crucial tribe-related unlocks.
  • Invasions made against your base are more intense.
  • There’s a prestige progression system that’s exclusive to Tribe mode.
  • Resource gathering efficiency is higher than in Survival.
  • Combat is more forgiving.

Warrior Mode

Warrior mode is designed for players who enjoy the combat in Soulmask, as well as for those who want to challenge themselves with speedrunning and beat all the bosses as fast as possible. This mode simplifies the survival and crafting elements – things like recruiting tribe members, managing food and fuel, and crafting gear – so you can focus more on the battles themselves. Here are some of the key features:

  • Enemy spawns are increased throughout the world.
  • Base invasions, building decay, the downed state, item durability, and gear loss on death are all disabled.
  • Enemies are smarter and stronger.
  • The tech tree has been altered to make combat-related unlocks easier to reach. Boss summoning items have also been added.
  • Merchants are now permanently stationed in camps, and random events happen more frequently.
  • Combat is more punishing, with a stronger focus on managing Stamina and Poise.
