Pokemon GO Adding Generation 8 Ghost-Types

Pokemon GO Adding Generation 8 Ghost-Types

Key Takeaways

  • Sinistea and Polteageist are coming to Pokemon GO as part of a newly announced “My Cup of Tea” event, which is scheduled to run from December 3 to December 7.
  • Sinistea will be obtainable from 1-star raids and as a Collection Challenge reward for the duration of the event. Evolving the Gen 8 Ghost-type mon into Polteageist will require 50 Sinistea Candy.
  • Pokemon GO’s debut version of Sinistea won’t have a chance of being shiny.

As an avid gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming addition of Sinistea and Polteageist to Pokemon GO! It’s been a long time coming since we last saw new Gen 8 mons joining the game back in 2020.

It’s been revealed that Sinistea and Polteageist are making their way to Pokemon GO, according to Niantic. These Ghost-type creatures from the eighth generation will make their debut within the game during an upcoming Pokemon GO event scheduled for early December 2024.

Since June 2020, Niantic’s popular mobile game has incorporated Generation 8 creatures, debuting Obstagoon and Perrserker during the Pokemon GO Throwback Challenge Champion 2020 event. In total, an additional 33 Generation 8 Pokemon have been integrated into the game over the subsequent four and a half years.

Niantic is carrying on the tradition by featuring Sinistea and Polteageist as the main attractions of an upcoming Pokemon GO event called My Cup of Tea. This exciting event begins on Tuesday, December 3, starting at 10am local time, and will run until Saturday, December 7, ending at 8pm local time.

How To Catch Sinistea in Pokemon GO

You’ll have two methods to catch Sinistea while I’m playing Pokemon GO. The simpler approach would be to search for it in one-star raids, where it might appear together with both male and female Frillish variants. Just like all one-star raids, the Sinistea raid should be manageable even for solo players in Pokemon GO.

In addition or another way, Sinistea can also be earned by finishing a new collection challenge in Pokemon GO called “My Cup of Tea”. This method might be more challenging since collection challenges are designed to keep gamers playing for extended periods. Usually, these tasks require catching around eight specific Pokemon in the wild. Although Niantic has not yet revealed specifics about the My Cup of Tea Collection Challenge, the event’s theme implies that players may need to catch Ghost-type Pokemon.

How To Evolve Sinistea to Polteageist in Pokemon GO

In the game Pokemon GO, transforming a Sinistea into Polteageist will necessitate accumulating 50 Sinistea Candy. This means that after the My Cup of Tea event concludes, it will become much harder to obtain Polteageist since you can no longer easily gather Sinistea Candy by participating in 1-Star raids. It’s also worth noting that when Sinistea made its debut in Pokemon GO, its shiny variant was not included, and it is expected to be added later on. However, after December 7, Sinistea will no longer be available. But given Niantic’s history, they may bring back the Gen 8 Ghost-type Pokemon regularly following its initial appearance in the game.
