In Dragon Ball Super, God Ki was initially presented as the ultimate power, allowing Goku and Vegeta to become stronger than almost anyone in the original Dragon Ball Z series. However, as the series has progressed, God Ki doesn’t seem as uniquely powerful anymore. By the time of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, several characters have reached incredibly high levels of power without needing to use God Ki at all.
In Dragon Ball Super, God Ki is often shown as a quick way to boost power, but it isn’t essential for the strongest human and Saiyan characters. For example, Jiren was able to fight on par with Goku’s Ultra Instinct form without using God Ki, and both Broly and Gohan have surpassed other Saiyans in power despite being purely mortal.

Hit’s Time Skip is Just as Useful as God Ki
Hit Defeated Vegeta & Goku in the Tournament of Destroyers
Hit is an incredibly powerful and ancient assassin, considered the strongest fighter in Universe 6 when not fused with another being. He proved his strength in the Tournament of Destroyers by effortlessly defeating Vegeta in his Super Saiyan Blue form and pushing Goku to the limit, forcing him to use the risky Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken technique. Despite his power, Hit deliberately held back during the tournament, as the rules prevented him from killing his opponents.
I’m absolutely fascinated by Hit’s Time Skip ability! It’s just incredible – he can actually jump forward in time, giving him a huge advantage in any fight. What’s even cooler is that during his battle with Goku, his Time Skip started evolving, getting stronger as he fought someone with so much power! And the best part? He does all this without needing any God Ki! That makes him, in my opinion, one of the most dangerous fighters in the entire multiverse.
Kefla Didn’t Need God Ki to Force Goku Back Into Ultra Instinct
Almost Defeated Goku in the Dragon Ball Super Anime
Kefla is an incredibly powerful Saiyan formed when Caulifla and Kale fused using Potara earrings during the Tournament of Power. She’s unique as both a Legendary Super Saiyan and the only character in the official Dragon Ball story who can transform into a Legendary Super Saiyan 2. In the Dragon Ball Super anime, she pushed Goku to the limit, forcing him to activate his Ultra Instinct Sign to keep up.
Kefla and Ultra Instinct Sign Goku are equally powerful opponents, even though Goku needs divine energy (God Ki) to stay in his transformed state. Kefla doesn’t use God Ki at all; she relies purely on her natural abilities and the power gained from the fusion of Caulifla and Kale – similar to how Goku and Vegeta become stronger when they fuse into Gogeta or Vegito. Unfortunately, the Dragon Ball Super manga portrays Kefla as a bit weaker, placing her at around the same level as Ultimate Gohan.
Jiren is Already Overpowered As Is
Jiren Beat Ultra Instinct Out of Goku
Man, Jiren is just incredible! He doesn’t rely on any of that God Ki stuff, or cool transformations, or tricky techniques – he’s just pure, unadulterated power. Honestly, if he’d really tried and worked with his team, he could have easily won the Tournament of Power all by himself and secured a win for Universe 11. It’s frustrating because he mostly just hangs back, and that’s ultimately what cost his universe the victory, even though they definitely pushed Universe 7 to their absolute limit!
Despite Goku mastering both forms of Ultra Instinct, Jiren remains a formidable opponent. He’s significantly more powerful than even the God of Destruction of his universe, Belmod, and the powerful Toppo. After the Tournament of Power, Goku still thought Jiren was stronger, and although others have since exceeded Jiren’s power, he could quickly reach Broly’s level with some training.
Granolah Became the Strongest Warrior in Universe 7 By Using the Dragon Balls
Granolah Has Won Almost All His Fights in Dragon Ball Super
Granolah wished on the Cerealian Dragon Balls to become the strongest fighter in Universe 11, sacrificing a large portion of his lifespan to achieve this. As a result, he aged noticeably, but also gained incredible new abilities – like the Hakai technique – and dramatically improved his vision. This allows him to pinpoint and strike vital spots on opponents with deadly precision, even from long distances.
Granolah nearly defeats both Goku and Vegeta, largely due to his incredible strength. When at his peak, he’s even more powerful than Vegeta in his Ultra Ego form. However, his wish from the Dragon Balls didn’t account for other fighters getting stronger, meaning he can still be overcome. Despite this, and without any divine energy of his own, Granolah remains one of the strongest fighters in the entire multiverse.
Gas’ Wish Was Even More Broken Than Granolah’s
Gas Defeated Ultra Ego Vegeta
Once Granolah uses the Dragon Balls to become the strongest in the universe, Elec decides he wants that power too. He collects the Cerealian Dragon Balls and wishes to be the strongest in Universe 7 instead. However, Elec’s wish is different from Granolah’s: it includes a safeguard. If anyone becomes more powerful than Elec, the wish activates, aging him up and allowing him to unlock the full potential of the Heeter clan’s power.
Gas met a tragic end in the Granolah the Survivor Saga, ultimately reduced to a frail state and crumbling to dust when Black Frieza killed him. Before Frieza intervened, Gas had become powerful enough to defeat Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah simultaneously. Without Frieza’s arrival, he likely would have continued to grow stronger, potentially defeating them all, or perhaps even dying of old age in the process.
Orange Piccolo is Finally Reaching His Full Potential
Orange Piccolo is One of the Five Strongest Main Characters in Dragon Ball Super
Orange Piccolo represents Piccolo reaching his full potential thanks to Shenron, allowing him to keep pace with the increasingly high power levels in Dragon Ball Super. Akira Toriyama designed this transformation specifically to allow Piccolo to compete with Goku and Vegeta again. Importantly, unlike forms like Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego, Orange Piccolo isn’t a divine power-up.
In Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Orange Piccolo demonstrates incredible power, even being able to battle Cell Max, though he isn’t quite strong enough to win. While Gohan Beast ultimately surpasses him by the movie’s end, Piccolo still establishes himself as one of the series’ strongest characters, firmly placing him at a God-Tier power level.
Cell Max Would Have Been Unstoppable If He Became Perfect
Cell Max Nearly Killed Orange Piccolo
Cell Max was Dr. Hedo’s final creation, built from Dr. Gero’s original plans. Though unfinished when he appeared, this was actually a good thing. Even in his Semi-Perfect form, Cell Max was incredibly powerful – strong enough to destroy the Earth and defeat Orange Piccolo. Had he been fully completed, even Goku and Vegeta likely wouldn’t have been able to stop him.
Even though Gohan Beast was the most powerful fighter available, he still required Orange Piccolo’s assistance to defeat Cell Max, as their energy blasts were evenly matched. Dr. Hero creating an Android stronger than a god is a greater achievement than Dr. Gero’s Androids that could defeat Super Saiyans in the original Dragon Ball Z. Cell Max, in his perfected form, would have only been stoppable by a God of Destruction like Beerus.
Broly Was Already a Beast in His Base Form
Legendary Super Saiyan Broly Beat Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza
Most Saiyans are unusually powerful, almost like natural mutations, but Broly stands far above the rest. He was born with a Power Level of 10,000, and even without any training, he could defeat Goku and Vegeta when they weren’t using their God forms. Once he transformed into a Super Saiyan, Broly became even more powerful than Goku and Vegeta in their God states.
Broly’s Legendary Super Saiyan form makes him incredibly powerful, roughly matching the strength of Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta – that’s a huge feat! He’s a mortal who can fight alongside and even challenge a fused warrior with a massive power boost and divine energy. When Broly reaches this level, he doesn’t even need divine energy himself, as he’s already one of the strongest characters ever seen in Dragon Ball.
Gohan Surpassed Goku & Vegeta Without Needing God Ki
Gohan Beast Defeated Cell Max and Ultra Instinct Goku
Gohan Beast is an incredibly powerful new form in Dragon Ball Super, and one of the biggest power increases the series has ever seen. In the movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Gohan’s power level jumps dramatically, surpassing even Goku in his Perfected Ultra Instinct form and Vegeta with Ultra Ego. While he received assistance from Orange Piccolo, Gohan Beast was the only fighter capable of defeating Cell Max.
Gohan’s Beast form doesn’t rely on God Ki at all; it’s purely the result of him unlocking his full power and potential. In chapter 103 of Dragon Ball Super, Gohan Beast defeats Goku, even while Goku is in his Perfected Ultra Instinct form, and then battles Vegeta (Super Saiyan Blue Evolved), Broly (Super Saiyan), Goten (Super Saiyan), and Trunks (Super Saiyan) – a fight he’s strongly suggested to have won.
Black Frieza is Already a Threat to the Gods
Black Frieza Killed Gas, and Beat Ultra Instinct Goku & Ultra Ego Vegeta
Frieza is considered the strongest being in Universe 7, and potentially across all universes. He rapidly increased his power, going from being weaker than Goku during the Namek saga to surpassing both Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F within just four months. After ten years of training in a Hyperbolic Time Chamber from another universe, Frieza achieved his Black Frieza form, making him the most dangerous fighter in existence.
Black Frieza easily defeated Awakened Gas with a single blow and overpowered both Goku (Ultra Instinct) and Vegeta (Ultra Ego) simultaneously. This suggests he may have gained power from the Gods of Destruction. When the Dragon Ball Super manga continues, the Z-Fighters will likely need significant power increases to have any hope of winning against him.
