Best Multiplayer Games to Play If You Loved Ghost of Yotei Legends

Been spending a lot of time playing Ghost of Yotei: Legends lately? If so, have you ever stopped to think about other games with a similar, enjoyable gameplay cycle?

Sucker Punch really created something special with Yotei Legends. Its four unique classes, combined with a rewarding progression system featuring three game modes and an upcoming raid, make it incredibly engaging. You might even find it more addictive than other games you and your friends have played.

If you enjoyed Ghost of Yotei Legends, and you like playing cooperative, time-consuming multiplayer games with friends – which I’ve done a lot of – I highly recommend checking out these other titles. You won’t be disappointed!

This list features a variety of games with different styles and genres, but Ghost of Yotei: Legends stands out thanks to its strong focus on cooperative play and satisfying progression. Honestly, nothing else quite captures the same feeling when you’re playing it.

8. World War Z

Same All-out Slaying Energy, but With Zombies

If you enjoyed playing Ghost of Yotei Legends with friends, especially the Survival mode, you’ll likely have fun with World War Z. It offers a similar team-based experience, but instead of fighting in a fantasy world inspired by samurai, you’ll be battling hordes of zombies.

World War Z is designed around teamwork, so a strong, coordinated group can be incredibly effective, especially when players cover each other’s positions. Similar to choosing a class like Mercenary or Shinobi, the role you play significantly impacts how the whole team approaches the game.

If you enjoy games you can play again and again, you’ll find plenty to keep you engaged here. You can constantly improve by unlocking new abilities and weapons, and then challenge your team with harder levels to earn even better rewards, creating a really satisfying gameplay cycle.

7. Destiny 2

Don’t Get Too Intoxicated With the Grind

Having been deeply invested in the original Destiny and then stepping away from Destiny 2 shortly after the Final Shape expansion, the game feels strangely familiar – like a difficult relationship you can’t quite let go of. It’s a complicated feeling, because despite everything, I still cherish the many great experiences it’s given me over the years.

Despite some concerns about how Bungie handles its ongoing service, it’s hard to deny that they consistently deliver a really fun gameplay experience. The shooting mechanics are among the best in modern first-person shooters, and if you have a friend or two, you’ll likely have a great time playing through the expansions and even tackling the challenging endgame content.

Okay, so there are three classes you can play, and honestly, the builds are always shifting thanks to updates and balance changes. But if you want my advice? Just pick the Titan. Seriously, they’re the best – don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! And if you’re a Star Wars fan, especially with the new Renegades expansion, you’re in for a treat. The game is really hitting its stride right now.

6. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

For the Emperor

Despite appearing quite different, Space Marine 2 delivers a similar satisfying experience to playing Yotei Legends. While Yotei Legends focuses on sword combat, Space Marine 2 lets you battle waves of enemies using chainsaws and powerful guns.

It can be messy, but when everything comes together, it’s incredibly rewarding – just like a flawless run in Yotei Legend’s Survival Mode. Things like protecting teammates who are getting swarmed, or defending a position while everyone else gets back in formation, feel fantastic.

So, like a lot of other games I’ve played, SM2 really makes you pick a role. There are tons of classes to choose from – some are pretty standard, like Assault and Tactical, which are all about dealing damage. But then there are some really unique ones, like Bulwark, which is more about supporting your team, especially with this cool ability called Chapter Banner.

5. Remnant 2

A Never-Ending Cycle of Death, Literally

In Yotei Legends, surviving the hardest parts of the game, particularly Incursions, wasn’t always a sure thing. Even if you were skilled, you often needed to depend on your teammates to succeed.

Remnant 2 successfully creates a similar sense of urgency and teamwork in co-op mode. Enemies are powerful, bosses are even more so, and that means where you stand, quickly reviving fallen teammates, and clear communication become much more important than simply having a strong character build or being individually skilled. You’ll find yourselves in tense situations where you’re trying to save a run with a teammate down and another holding off waves of enemies.

As a fan, I love that with all the DLC they’ve added, there are now 14 different ways to play thanks to the Archetype system! And honestly, with the way the game creates a new world each time and that classic, tough-but-fair challenge, you can easily lose hours playing with friends or solo. It’s just super addictive!

4. Aliens: Fireteam Elite

Torch Those Xenomorphs

Both Aliens: Fireteam Elite and Yotei’s Legends Mode are fundamentally designed for close teamwork between three or four players. Success isn’t about overpowering enemies – it’s about depending on your teammates to get through each mission.

Fireteam Elite is a game where you’re always watching your surroundings, communicating dangers, and staying with your team – a single error can quickly lead to disaster. Waves of relentless Xenomorphs burst from the walls and vents, and the tension steadily increases, starting slowly before becoming incredibly intense as you build defenses and fight to hold your ground.

Okay, so Yotei: Legends isn’t a super fast-paced game, I’ll admit that. But trust me, the way the different classes work together is amazing, and the controls just feel really good. If you’re into games that let you build cool team combos and enjoy a satisfying, responsive experience, you absolutely need to check this one out. And if you’re an Alien fan like me? Even more reason to grab it!

3. Nioh 2

Exhilirating Co-Op Action

Many players who enjoyed Yotei Legends will find Nioh 2 appealing because of its thoughtful and challenging combat system. It rewards skill and careful play, requiring you to study your opponents, control your stamina, and precisely time your attacks instead of simply pressing buttons.

Okay, so as someone new to this game, I honestly think it’s best experienced solo at first – it really lets you learn the ropes. But once you’re comfortable, the co-op is amazing. It’s not just about running around randomly; it’s about real teamwork. Like, one person can go all-in on a boss while the other plays it safe, keeping everyone alive with revives and buffs. When it all works together, it doesn’t feel chaotic at all – it feels like a perfectly synchronized dance, which is so satisfying!

Both games are inspired by Japanese history and mythology, but they offer very different experiences. One feels like a classic, playable ghost story designed for up to four players, while Nioh 2 is much darker and more intense, focusing on frightening creatures and a sense of dread.

2. Monster Hunter World

Fashion is the Endgame, Actually

I’m not a long-time Monster Hunter player, but I was completely hooked when I first played Monster Hunter World on my PS4 in 2018. I really enjoyed how easy it was to start with each weapon, but how challenging it became as you learned more. Plus, the variety of monsters and the game’s emphasis on playing with others were fantastic.

Capcom really nailed it with this one. For me and my friends, it was perfect – we were all about those multiplayer games where you spend hours grinding for awesome loot, and where everyone had to work together to get things done. It just clicked!

Monster Hunter World cleverly adjusts the difficulty based on how many players are participating, ensuring every hunt feels like a real challenge unless you’re a well-equipped, endgame hunter. The Iceborne expansion then takes things even further, adding tons of new content and a higher difficulty level for experienced players.

For Freedom… For LIBERTY!

Team up with your friends, plan your attacks, and get ready for some intense action in Helldivers 2! While it’s different from Yotei Legends, this game has a lot of promise and could offer a really rewarding experience when it comes to both improving your character and enjoying the gameplay.

Helldivers 2 doesn’t reward you with new items directly through gameplay, but it makes up for that with Warbonds – passes that unlock cool armor, weapons, and gear. Players can then build their own custom toolkit and head into battle with a variety of powerful options like mechs, vehicles, and tanks, offering almost endless ways to play.

You’re guaranteed to have a blast playing with your friends if you focus on improving your skills and using effective Stratagems to defeat the Terminids, Automatons, and Illuminate. Just please avoid intentionally sabotaging yourself or your team with risky explosives like the Hellbomb and Eagle 500Kg.
