One Piece: 8 Strongest Villain Groups, Ranked

After nearly thirty years of weekly releases, One Piece has featured many villain groups, each with unique goals and led by memorable characters. However, these groups aren’t all created equal. Some are incredibly powerful, posing a serious threat even to strong pirates like the Straw Hats, and providing significant challenges. This includes groups that have already been defeated, like the Beast Pirates, and those that remain as formidable opponents, such as the Five Elders.

CP0

Leader: Rob Lucci
Affiliation: World Government

The Straw Hat Pirates previously battled CP9. Now, after a ten-year gap, all the original CP9 members have returned as a new group called CP0. They first appeared during the Whole Cake Island arc and were heavily involved in the Wano Country arc. Most recently, they played a key part in the events on Egghead, bringing back characters like Rob Lucci and Kaku. With their Devil Fruit powers now fully awakened, they’ve become incredibly powerful – even Zoro struggled to beat Lucci. While they are undoubtedly strong, they aren’t currently the strongest fighters in the world of One Piece.

Cross Guild

Leader: Buggy
Affiliation: Pirates

The creation of the Cross Guild really surprised a lot of fans. Buggy, who used to be a relatively weak pirate with an unremarkable crew, suddenly became much more powerful when strong pirates like Mihawk and Sir Crocodile teamed up with him after the disbanding of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

I’m watching the Cross Guild really establish themselves as a serious threat in the One Piece world, and I get the feeling they’re going to cause a lot of trouble. It seems inevitable that the Straw Hats will have to deal with them eventually – especially since Mihawk and Zoro are on a collision course, it feels like that conflict will pull them into the mix one way or another.

Holy Knights

Leader: Garling Figarland
Affiliation: World Government

The latest arc of One Piece has introduced a powerful new group of villains called the Holy Knights. These fighters work for the World Government and possess incredible abilities, including immortality and rapid healing. They are led by Garling Figarland and operate under the command of Imu. Shamrock Figarland serves as their captain, and currently known members include Manmayer Gunko, Shepherd Sommers, Rimoshifu Killingham, and Satchels Maffey.

The Holy Knights all appear to have Devil Fruit powers, and they’re also given the Deep Sea Covenant by Imu, which significantly boosts their abilities. They’re shaping up to be a very powerful group and will likely be a key challenge during the current events unfolding in Elbaf.

Big Mom Pirates

Leader: Big Mom (Formerly), Katakuri (Assumed)
Affiliation: Pirates

As a huge One Piece fan, I was absolutely blown away by the Big Mom Pirates! They were such a daunting challenge for the Straw Hats during the Yonko Saga. Leading them was the incredibly powerful Charlotte Linlin, and she had this amazing crew of elite fighters called the Sweet Commanders. These guys – Snack, Smoothie, Cracker, and especially Katakuri – were seriously tough and made facing Big Mom even more terrifying!

I watched Luffy have an amazing battle with Katakuri during the Whole Cake Island arc. Later, we saw Big Mom and her crew again in Wano, and their leader ultimately went down. Even though Big Mom is out of the picture, her pirate crew is still around, and it seems like Katakuri has stepped up to lead them now.

Beast Pirates

Leader: Kaido
Affiliation: Pirates

The Beast Pirates were the last major group of enemies the Straw Hat Pirates fought during the Yonko Saga, serving as the primary villains in the Wano arc. Led by the incredibly powerful Yonko Kaido, the Beast Pirates’ strongest members include the All Stars and the Tobiroppo. Defeating Kaido proved extremely difficult, and Luffy needed to unlock Gear 5 to finally win.

Queen and King proved to be formidable opponents, pushing Zoro and Sanji to their limits during this story arc. After the battle of Onigashima, the Beast Pirates were completely defeated – Kaido is believed to be dead, and the rest of his crew was captured.

Blackbeard Pirates

The Blackbeard Pirates are quickly becoming one of the most powerful and dangerous groups in the world of One Piece. While they were hinted at during the Drum Island arc, fans first officially encountered them during the Jaya arc. Their crew grew significantly during the events of the Summit War, especially after they orchestrated a breakout from the Impel Down prison, releasing many notorious criminals.

Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, leads a dangerous crew and is considered one of the biggest threats in the world. He possesses the power of two incredibly rare and powerful Devil Fruits: the Gura Gura no Mi and the Yami Yami no Mi. Key members of his crew include the skilled fighters Kuzan and Shiryu of the Rain.

Marines

Leader: Akainu
Affiliation: World Government

In the world of One Piece, the Marines are a formidable opposing force. This large and varied organization poses a significant challenge, with its most dangerous members being The Admirals.

Before the two-year gap in the story, the three most powerful Marine Admirals were Akainu, Kizaru, and Aokiji. After that gap, and with Aokiji leaving, Akainu became the highest-ranking Admiral, known as the Fleet Admiral. The new team of Admirals then consisted of Kizaru, Ryokugyu, and Fujitora. These Admirals are incredibly strong and will be major challenges for anyone facing the Marines in the final part of the story.

Five Elders

Leader: Imu
Affiliation: Word Government

Among all the villainous organizations in One Piece, the Five Elders appear to be the most threatening. They are the strongest fighters within the World Government, serving under Imu, and consist of incredibly old and powerful warriors. Their strength comes from special Yokai abilities granted through a mysterious agreement with Imu.

This agreement also gives them the ability to endlessly heal and live forever. We’ve already seen a hint of their power in Egghead, and they’ve become even stronger with Garling Figarland joining after Saturn’s passing. This makes them a truly frightening group to confront.
