It’s common to see siblings featured in anime, and many shows have explored their relationships in interesting ways. While strong individual characters are great, sibling duos working together can add a fresh dynamic to a story and allow for more in-depth character development. Among all the exciting pairs, some sibling duos are particularly memorable and well-written.
Tanjiro and Nezuko
- Anime: Demon Slayer
Tanjiro and Nezuko have quickly become one of the most beloved pairs in anime. They’re arguably the most famous brother and sister duo in recent action-adventure stories, and it’s easy to see why. Their peaceful life in the forest was shattered when demons attacked, tragically killing their family and turning Nezuko into a demon herself.
After that day, Tanjiro began a difficult journey to turn his sister back into a human, and they faced many challenges along the way. Tanjiro loves his sister deeply and is determined to save her, even at any cost. Nezuko is just as devoted, repeatedly risking herself to protect her brother. Their bond is truly one of the strongest in Demon Slayer.
Choso and Yuji
- Anime: Jujutsu Kaisen
I’m completely hooked on Jujutsu Kaisen, and honestly, Yuji Itadori is such a fascinating character! It’s wild to learn he wasn’t just born naturally – Kenjaku specifically engineered his birth to be the vessel for Sukuna. And Kenjaku’s involvement doesn’t stop there! He’s also the one who created the Death Paintings, and we’ve met three of them: Choso, Eso, and Kechizu. Sadly, Yuji and Nobara took down Eso and Kechizu, leaving Choso as the last one standing. At first, Choso was out for revenge, wanting to get back at Yuji for what happened to his brothers. But then he discovered a huge twist – they actually share the same ‘parent,’ which means Yuji and Choso are brothers! It’s such a complex and compelling storyline.
At first, Yuji was unsure about Choso wanting to be his older brother, but he eventually welcomed the connection. Their brotherly relationship became a key part of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, and it’s set to become even stronger as the story goes on. Readers of the manga know that their bond deepens dramatically during the Shinjuku Showdown arc, often leaving fans deeply moved.
Osamu and Atsumu
- Anime: Haikyu
Osamu and Atsumu Miya, known as the Miya Twins, are a dynamic duo in the anime Haikyu!!. They were a major force in the fourth season, providing a tough challenge to Karasuno during the Nationals tournament. Many considered them strong contenders to win the entire championship, making their match against Hinata, Kageyama, and the rest of the Karasuno team particularly intense.
The Miya twins were an incredible team – a seemingly unpredictable mix that somehow worked perfectly. They were amazingly skilled, able to replicate the techniques of players like Hinata and Kageyama after only seeing them once. Though they didn’t make it to Nationals, they quickly became fan favorites and are now considered one of the most beloved anime sibling pairs worldwide.
Killua and Alluka
- Anime: Hunter x Hunter
Killua and Alluka are siblings from the Zoldyck family and are considered exceptionally well-developed characters in the Hunter x Hunter series. The Zoldycks are already a troubled family, and Alluka faced even harsher treatment than Killua because of a mysterious power she possesses. Despite this, Killua deeply loves Alluka and consistently defends her from danger.
This explains why Alluka completely trusts Killua and always works with him. Killua consistently acts to protect either Gon or Alluka, and their strong connection is highlighted by their decision to travel together after the Chairman Election concludes the series.

Edward and Alphonse
- Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist
Edward and Alphonse, the Elric brothers, are the central figures in Fullmetal Alchemist. As children, they embarked on a quest to revive their mother. They have a close relationship and always support each other. When their attempt to bring their mother back through alchemy went wrong, Edward dedicated himself to fixing his brother’s damaged body.
The author skillfully develops the strong connection between the characters, consistently showing how much they’re willing to give up for each other. Fullmetal Alchemist excels at portraying brotherly love and family bonds, which are central to the story’s themes.
Sasuke and Itachi
- Anime: Naruto
Sasuke and Itachi are a famously complex pair of brothers from the anime and manga series Naruto. Both grew up in the Uchiha Clan with immense pressure to succeed, and both ultimately proved capable. However, this pressure came at a great cost. Itachi Uchiha made the difficult decision to eliminate the entire clan to protect Sasuke, but he kept the real reason a secret, leading his brother to resent him.
Itachi ultimately made enormous sacrifices for Sasuke, even dying by his brother’s hand. However, he also deeply hurt Sasuke and later admitted his methods were wrong. He confessed that, given the chance, he would have been honest with Sasuke from the beginning.
Itachi’s love for Sasuke never wavered, and he prioritized his younger brother’s life above all else, even his responsibilities as a ninja. In turn, Sasuke feels a unique and deep devotion for Itachi, a level of care he only shares with Naruto Uzumaki.
Luffy and Ace
- Anime: One Piece
Luffy and Ace are a hugely popular pair of brothers in the anime world, known from the series One Piece. While they aren’t related by blood, they grew up together and became sworn brothers through a special childhood ritual – they shared drinks from sake cups. This bond is a key part of their story in One Piece.
I’ve always found the connection between Luffy and Ace fascinating. Luffy’s father is the revolutionary Dragon, while Ace had the legendary Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, as his father. They faced countless dangers together, but I think their most memorable fight was during the Paramount War. Luffy risked everything to save Ace from the World Government, a truly desperate attempt. It was heartbreaking when Ace didn’t make it, but his death ultimately pushed Luffy to become even more powerful and pursue his dream of becoming the Pirate King.
