As a seasoned gamer and survivor of countless nights in The Fog, I can’t help but feel my heart race with anticipation at the arrival of the new characters, The Houndmaster and Taurie Cain! The lore behind these two is as gripping as any pirate tale or dark cult narrative.

Behaviour Interactive has unveiled two fresh characters for Dead by Daylight: The Houndmaster and Taurie Cain.

As a gamer, I’ve just learned that the latest update is a sequel to the previous main storyline titled “All Things Wicked”. The devs are venturing into new, unexplored territories with this installment, dubbed “Doomed Course”.

Recalling a time when pirates and looters ruled the oceans, The Houndmaster arose from within the eye of the storm, driven by an intense desire for retribution. However, like many who embark on such a perilous path, she was ultimately swallowed up by its relentless demands. Meanwhile, Taurie Cain dedicated numerous years to serving The Entity. It seemed fitting that she found herself enshrouded in the mist…though not as she had imagined it would be.

Accompanied by her steadfast dog Snug, the Skilled Hunter rarely shows mercy when pursuing Survivors, all under the command of the ominous Entity. A bond created through adversity and perseverance, they operate seamlessly towards achieving the Entity’s sinister goals.

In keeping with her gaming nickname, The Houndmaster’s Scent of Blood Power revolves around Snug, Dead by Daylight’s initial AI-managed animal character. Players have the ability to utilize Snug for tracking Survivors, exposing their locations whenever they fall within the Houndsense range. Upon discovery, The Houndmaster can issue her Chase command, sending Snug after a Survivor and momentarily restricting them.

Perks:

  • All-Shaking Thunder: There’s no telling where a chase might lead. Plummet from a height to temporarily gain an extended lunge, allowing you to quickly close the gap on your quarry.
  • Scourge Hook: Jagged Compass: After a Survivor is unhooked from a non-Scourge Hook, it becomes a Scourge Hook. When you Hook a Survivor on a Scourge Hook, the Generator with the most progress is briefly revealed.
  • No Quarter: The mere thought of The Houndmaster’s return is so intimidating that Survivors are left entirely shaken. Whenever one nearly completes a self-heal, they’ll be bombarded with an adrenaline pounding series of difficult

Showcasing an impressive learning curve and the knack for swiftly obstructing a Survivor’s escape plans, the Houndmaster’s relentless proficiency should never be taken lightly. And let’s not forget, who among other Killers has the unique ability to even pat a dog?

Doomed Course also introduces the morally darkest Survivor The Fog has ever seen, Taurie Cain.

For many years, Taurie belonged to a secretive group called the Black Talon, who thought that a mysterious being, known as The Entity, could help humans surpass their current state. Among them, Taurie was one of the most dedicated followers. However, when she was ordered to do something unimaginable – kill an innocent person – she hesitated…and it was then that a sense of uncertainty, which I’ll call The Fog, began to envelop her.

Perks:

  • Invocation: Treacherous Crows: Spending time in the shadows has its benefits. When in the Basement, you can begin an Invocation to become Injured and Broken for the rest of the Trial. However, the Killer’s Aura will be revealed to all Survivors whenever they disturb a Crow.
  • Clean Break: After you finish healing another Survivor, once you begin being healed by another Survivor, you can instantly become Broken. If you manage to survive long enough, you’ll instantly regain your lost Health States.
  • Shoulder The Burden: Once per Trial, provided you are not on Death Hook, you can activate Shoulder the Burden before Unhooking a Survivor. When they are Unhooked, they lose 1 Hook State and you gain 1 Hook State, scream, and become Exposed for a brief duration.

A Survivor with an edge, Taurie Cain brings a new attitude to The Fog. Things may not have gone how she planned, but that doesn’t mean she won’t adapt, using each new Trial to find her place within The Entity’s Realm.

You can expect the new characters to have two unique outfits that offer insights into different facets of their individual natures.

Let’s re-explore Taurie’s tenure as part of the Black Talon, where she donned an imposing Very Rare Attire that would make her fellow Survivors glance nervously over their shoulders. Elevate yourself to the pinnacle of Houndmasters with a fresh Visceral Legendary Outfit, which highlights another of Taurie’s beloved dogs prominently. Trust us; you’ve never witnessed such a formidable Poodle before.

Discussing something truly spine-tingling, another icon of horror is set to unveil their eerie masterpieces in The Fog. The Junji Ito Collection will soon be here, showcasing 8 costumes based on the author’s most terrifying characters. This collection includes 2 Legendary costumes – one for Miss Fuchi as The Artist and Tomie Kawakami as The Spirit – each with unique audio recordings tailored to complement the outfits. Additionally, there will be new Very Rare costumes for The Twins, The Trickster, The Dredge, Yui Kimura, Yun-Jin Lee, and Kate Denson.
