Rumors are circulating about a small Xbox digital event happening soon, likely within the next few days. Xbox fans have plenty to be excited about, as several big games are scheduled to launch on the platform before the end of 2026. Both Xbox’s internal studios and its partners are working on a diverse range of games for Xbox Series X/S.
The highly anticipated racing game, Forza Horizon 6, is launching on PC and Xbox Series X/S on May 19th. Following the huge success of Forza Horizon 5 – which came to PlayStation 5 last April and quickly gained a following – Forza Horizon 6 will also be available on PS5, but later in 2024. PlayStation fans won’t have to wait as long for this new installment compared to the previous game’s release on their platform, and early reactions to Forza Horizon 6 have been very good.
The Next Showcase from Xbox
A recent episode of the Septic Sauce podcast featured a claim from insider Jez Corden that Xbox could be making an announcement next week. When asked if this announcement would coincide with PlayStation’s rumored State of Play event in April, Corden clarified that Xbox is planning its own presentation aimed at all gamers. Following up on this, Tom Warren from The Verge suggested the announcement will likely be an ID@Xbox showcase, meaning it will highlight indie games coming to Xbox Series X/S and other platforms.
While Xbox hasn’t officially said anything, several sources suggest a new show is coming soon. This show would likely focus on smaller games, as Xbox has already planned a larger games showcase for June 7th. With that big event so close, Xbox is probably holding off on any major news until then.
Okay, so don’t get your hopes up for big news on games like Gears of War: E-Day or the new Fable – we probably won’t hear about those just yet. But honestly, the next ID@Xbox showcase still has the potential to be awesome! Indie games are a huge part of what makes Game Pass so great, giving us way more than just the big releases. These ID@Xbox events usually focus on games coming to Game Pass, and a lot of times they launch on day one! I’m hoping we’ll see some completely new games revealed, and maybe even get some updates on titles that have already been teased.
