One Piece: 9 Characters Killed By Nerona Imu

Nerona Imu is the main villain of One Piece, revealed to be one of the earliest kings and currently the ruler of the entire world. He also founded the World Government. During the recent Elbaph arc, the author, Oda, showcased Imu’s immense power, which clearly surpasses even the strongest characters we’ve seen so far. Although Imu hasn’t fully demonstrated the extent of their abilities, they’ve been secretly manipulating events for years, eliminating anyone who poses a threat. In fact, Imu was victorious in the great war during the Void Century, removing all rivals and solidifying their control.

Joy Boy

Imu’s greatest challenge likely came from Joy Boy, the very first pirate. Joy Boy originated from the Ancient Kingdom, a prosperous civilization from long ago in the world of One Piece. Around 800 years ago, twenty nations united to oppose Joy Boy and his allies, including Imu. Because of this rivalry, they almost certainly clashed during the Void Century. Ultimately, Joy Boy died, marking the end of both his life and the Void Century.

Imu ultimately triumphed and founded the World Government, becoming the hidden ruler of the world. It’s evident that Joy Boy was a major opponent Imu overcame.

Davy Jones

Davy Jones first appeared in One Piece during the Long Ring Long Island arc, but his importance wasn’t fully understood until the Elbaph arc, when the author, Eiichiro Oda, mentioned him in connection to the God Valley Incident. Davy Jones was a pirate who lived during the Void Century, at the same time as Joy Boy. Legend says he was the world’s original ruler, even before Imu, and like Joy Boy, the current leader fears his legacy.

Davy Jones was probably as powerful as figures like Joy Boy and Imu, but he ultimately suffered defeat. Despite this, his legacy endures, and his descendants continue to pose a threat to Imu. Davy D. Jones still plays a significant role in the ongoing story.

Saint Saturn

Saint Saturn was a highly influential member of the Five Elders, working directly under Imu until recently. He played a major role as an enemy in the Egghead Arc, opposing Luffy and his crew. Because he failed to prevent the emergence of the Sun God Nika, Imu severely punished him.

Throughout the story, it’s been revealed that Saturn has a powerful connection with Imu, called the Abyssal Covenant. This connection gives Saturn unique Yokai abilities, along with the power to constantly heal and live forever. However, it also means Imu can control Saturn whenever desired. Imu can even take these powers away, which is exactly what happened at the end of the Egghead Arc. Angry with Saturn, Imu removed all of his abilities, leaving him powerless and ultimately killing him.

Nefertari Cobra

During the recent Reverie, Nefertari Cobra met with Saint Imu Nerona and inquired about the Poneglyphs and the location of Lily. However, simply asking these questions signed his death warrant. Seeing the face of the world’s ruler meant he wouldn’t be leaving the Reverie alive.

Despite a valiant effort to escape and help from Sabo, Cobra ultimately died in the throne room. He made the selfless choice to sacrifice himself so Sabo could get away and deliver an important message to Luffy and Vivi. While he may not have been the most powerful of those killed by Imu, Cobra’s death is incredibly important, particularly as the story heads towards its conclusion.

Nefertari Lily

Nefertari Lily was the queen of the Arabasta Kingdom and a powerful leader. She was also one of the original twenty rulers who formed the World Government. Interestingly, she also had ties – though complex ones – to the ancient civilization that existed before it.

I’ve come to understand that Lily was the one who distributed the Poneglyphs across the globe. Her last message to Arabasta was a plea to raise a ‘flag of dawn’ against a world heading for ruin, and it strongly suggests she opposed Imu and the other rulers who were fighting against the Ancient Kingdom. It seems she was probably there when the original twenty kingdoms made their vow of equality before the Empty Throne, but for some unknown reason, she never returned to Arabasta. I believe Imu had her killed. Right after that, her brother took over as the ruler of Arabasta, and Vivi is a direct descendant of him.

Rocks D. Xebec

Rocks D. Xebec was a powerful pirate who sailed the seas 56 years ago in the world of One Piece. He aimed to become the King of the World and built a formidable crew, the Rocks Pirates, to achieve this goal. Xebec even directly confronted Imu, demonstrating his incredible strength. Ultimately, though, he was defeated by Imu, as he wasn’t ready for such a challenging battle.

Rocks was forced into a fight with the World Government’s leader, Saint Imu Nerona, when his home, God Valley, was attacked. He wasn’t prepared for such a powerful opponent and suffered a devastating loss, being defeated and then ‘Domi Reversi’d’ – a complete reversal of power. Later, Roger and Garp teamed up to fight him, ultimately defeating him decisively. Though Garling Figarland delivered the final attack, it was Imu who ultimately killed Rocks.

Shuri’s Father

More than fifty years ago in the One Piece world, Imu and the Holy Knights assaulted the kingdom where Princess Shuri originated, a place located in the South Blue. This kingdom was once thriving, ruled by a king who was very close to Brook, the musician of the Straw Hat Pirates. Brook actually led the kingdom’s army and raised Princess Shuri. However, the story reveals that Shuri herself was ultimately responsible for the king’s death.

Shuri was being manipulated by Imu Nerona, who was responsible for both the kingdom’s destruction and the princess’s abduction.

Seki

Seki used to be the king of Lulusia, but his own citizens overthrew him and imprisoned him. While he was in prison, Imu decided to destroy the entire kingdom using the Ancient Weapon Uranus.

The Kingdom was instantly obliterated, and Seki perished with it. Once a mighty king, he was reduced to nothing and forgotten by history, all because of Imu.

Princess Komane

Princess Komane, the daughter of Seki, also lost her position when the people of Lulusia rebelled. Similar to her father, she was imprisoned there after Saint Imu Nerona activated the Ancient Weapon Uranus, which destroyed the country.

Like most people in the Kingdom of Lulusia, Komane—a royal who was allied with the World Government—ultimately died.
