New Pokemon-Like Co-Op Survival Game is Blowing Up on Kickstarter

Temtem: Pioneers is a new cooperative survival game where you collect creatures similar to Pokémon and build things using a detailed crafting system. It quickly reached its funding goal on Kickstarter. While the game is planned for release in 2028, it will only be available on a few platforms.

Crema, a game studio based in Spain, created Temtem in 2022, and it’s still considered one of the best creature-collecting games like Pokemon. In 2023, they released Temtem: Showdown, a free-to-play battle game where players compete against each other without any in-game purchases. Most recently, in 2024, they launched Temtem: Swarm, a fast-paced action game inspired by Vampire Survivors.

Temtem: Pioneers Smashes Its Crowdfunding Goal in 24 Hours

A new game called Temtem: Pioneers has been announced as part of the Temtem series. Its Kickstarter campaign launched on April 9th and quickly exceeded its $100,000 funding goal in just one day. By April 12th, the project had received over $214,000 from 2,332 supporters, with 27 days left to go. Temtem: Pioneers is a survival and crafting game similar to Palworld, combining exploration, building, and collecting creatures.

While you can play Temtem: Pioneers on your own, it will also let up to six players team up online – two more than Palworld allows. The developers, Crema, are calling this game a spin-off to the 2022 game Temtem, but still plan to make a full sequel eventually. Unlike some games, Temtem: Pioneers isn’t designed as a constantly-updated “live service” title. While new content might be added after launch, the development team expects to finish the game at a defined point. Crema also explained that the game has been in development for a while, and the recent Kickstarter campaign was to enhance the game, not to fund its initial creation.

Temtem: Pioneers Can Currently Be Pre-Ordered for $30, But Not for Long

During its Kickstarter campaign, you can get Temtem: Pioneers for as little as €25 (about $30). This pledge level, called “Trailblazer,” includes a digital copy of the game for either Steam or the Epic Games Store. You’ll also have your name listed in the game’s credits and gain access to a special group on the game’s Discord server. The developers, Crema, have confirmed the game will cost more than $30 when it officially launches.

Currently, Temtem: Pioneers is only confirmed to be releasing on PC. The developers, Crema, have stated that creating versions for Linux and macOS at the same time would be too difficult. While they haven’t ruled out ports to those platforms in the future and are considering consoles for the long term, PC will be the initial and only launch platform. Interestingly, Temtem: Showdown remains Crema’s only game still exclusive to PC, as all their other titles have eventually been released on at least one console. Temtem: Pioneers is aiming for a 2028 release, and Crema was recently focused on completing Temtem: Swarm, their survival-focused game, which fully launched on April 2, 2026, after being in early access.
