Chosen Games, Weekly Themes, Cash Prizes Revealed for GGMods’ New Modathon

Last month, we introduced you to GGMods, a new online space built by and for modding enthusiasts – both those who create mods and those who use them. We’re happy to see this platform flourishing, as any community-focused resource that supports modders is a positive step forward.

GGMods announced updates about the website and revealed plans for their Spring 2026 Modathon. This event, hosted on ggmods.com, will allow creators to submit new mods for the GGMods catalog, with cash prizes awarded to select participants.

So, the Modathon is happening in themed weeks leading up to May 11th, and I’m excited to finally share which games we’ll be modding! We’re also letting everyone know what the themes are for each week and how the prize money will be distributed to the winning modders. I can’t wait to see what everyone creates!

Spring 2026 Modathon Games Revealed

The Spring Madness GGMods Modathon is centered around five specific games. To qualify for prizes, you’ll need to create and submit mods for those games. GGMods chose these titles based on which ones received the most submissions from users over the past few weeks. Here are the games they selected:

  • The Sims 4
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • Stardew Valley

If you’re already making mods, this is awesome news! But if you haven’t tried modding before, now’s the perfect time to jump in and give it a shot!

Themes and Timelines for Each Week of the Modathon

Now that you know which games qualify for the GGMods Spring Madness Modathon, let’s talk about the themes that will give you the best shot at winning a prize!

Here’s the theme breakdown (descriptions taken directly from GGMods for clarity):

  • Farming Season (April 13 – April 20): Mods to do with growth, harvest, or farming mechanics.
  • Monster Mayhem (April 20 – April 27): Mods that introduce new enemies, boss fights, combat, or even interesting new romance options…?
  • Spring Cleaning (April 27 – May 4): Mods focused on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, or general spring-themed mods.
  • Fae and Folklore (May 4 – May 11): Mods inspired by new and old folklore, mythological creatures and legend.

Cash Prizes Announced

Here’s the best part: GGMods will be giving out weekly cash prizes to talented modders and creators during these special themed weeks. If you create something amazing, your work could actually earn you money!

Here’s the prize breakdown:

The following prizes will be awarded to each of our five eligible games. This will be specifically updated once we reach launch and have the highest mod-count mods on GGMods.

Weekly Prizes:

Each week, we’ll award $100 to the mod that best fits the weekly theme, as judged by our panel of experts.

A $50 Steam gift card will be awarded per game, every week to the most downloaded mod that week.

Grand Prize:

The mod with the most downloads for each game during the 2026 Spring Madness Modathon will win a $1,000 prize.

To qualify, mods need to be newly created and submitted during the Modathon event. If you want your mod to be considered for a specific category, make sure it’s submitted before the deadline for that week’s theme.
