THQ Nordic has revealed that the original three Gothic games – often called the Gothic Classics – will be available on PlayStation and Xbox Series X|S starting this July.
If you pre-order the Gothic 1 Remake on consoles, you’ll also receive the classic Gothic game. All three games – Gothic 1 Remake, Gothic 2 Remake, and the original Gothic – will cost $29.99 each when they’re released throughout the year. The console versions will have improved controls and work seamlessly with gamepads. It’s worth noting that while Xbox One was previously listed as a supported platform, the latest announcement only mentions Xbox Series X|S.
Fans can now play the classic Gothic games on Nintendo Switch. This year, Gothic Classic will also be available on iOS devices. For PlayStation and Xbox players, Gothic Classic arrives on July 28th, followed by Gothic II Complete Classic on September 29th, and Gothic III Classic on November 24th. All three titles will be available on PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S.

If you pre-order the Gothic 1 Remake for PlayStation or Xbox Series S|X, you’ll get a free digital copy of the original Gothic 1 game right away. The Gothic 1 Remake is scheduled to release on June 5th, 2026.
Okay, so the story in Gothic Classic starts with this kingdom, Myrtana, getting totally overrun by orcs. The king, Rhobar II, needs this special magical ore to make weapons, so he’s using prisoners to mine it. To keep them contained, he asks mages to build a magical barrier around the mines. But things go horribly wrong – the magic goes haywire, and the prisoners revolt! Now the mines are run by the toughest, most dangerous inmates. The king has to try and deal with them while different groups within the mines are constantly fighting. And then I show up – a new prisoner – and everything just goes crazy. Seriously, my arrival changes everything!
