Why Now is The Perfect Time to Start Playing Pokemon GO For Series Collectors

Why Now is The Perfect Time to Start Playing Pokemon GO For Series Collectors

As a seasoned gamer with decades of Pokemon collecting under my belt, I can wholeheartedly say that the elusive Necrozma has been a thorn in my side for far too long. From its initial introduction in the Nintendo 3DS era to its tantalizing appearances in Pokemon GO, this Legendary Pokemon has proven to be as slippery as an eel on a greased log.

The motto of the Pokemon series is “Gotta catch ’em all,” and, since the franchise’s inception, many players have taken that completely seriously. Even with over one thousand Pokemon now available, some players try to collect every one, often in a single game. Pokemon GO has been a valuable resource for these collectors, as it includes Pokemon from every generation with more added. Now, with one particularly rare Pokemon being extremely difficult to obtain, collectors should turn to Pokemon GO to add this powerful being to their team.

There Are Very Few Ways To Obtain Necrozma

In simpler terms, Necrozma is a legendary Pokemon with psychic abilities that debuted in the seventh generation. There’s discussion about whether it falls under the category of Ultra Beasts or not. It plays a significant role as one of the main villains in the remade games, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and it can only be caught relatively late during gameplay.

After they were launched, the Generation 7 games served as the main way to capture Necrozma. Players could then trade or move this Pokemon to other versions like Generations 8 and 9. But in April 2024, Nintendo discontinued the online servers for their Nintendo 3DS console, making it harder for players to catch and transfer Necrozma from these games due to the shutdown.

It Can Still Be Found In The Crown Tundra – But It Is Quite Difficult To Obtain

In the Pokemon games on Nintendo Switch, you can get Necrozma through a “Dynamax Adventures” mission within the Crown Tundra DLC of Pokemon Sword and Shield. But let me tell you, the journey to catching Necrozma in this way isn’t a walk in the park.

Initially, players need to track and capture several renowned Pokemon: Calyrex, the Galarian transformations of the Legendary Birds from Generation 1, along with some members from the Regi family. Subsequently, they acquire the fourth Legendary Hint, which aids in discovering Ultra Beasts, such as Necrozma, within Max Lairs. However, it’s essential to note that this doesn’t assure their appearance, as Necrozma has a minuscule spawn rate – approximately 1%.

Pokemon GO Is Holding A Necrozma Raid Day On December 14

Previously, Necrozma made its debut in Pokemon GO back in 2024 during the GO Fest event. This fascinating character was obtained by completing a set of Special Research missions. To have a chance at claiming the Special Research and ultimately unlocking Necrozma, players had to take part in the GO Fest gathering.

On December 14, 2024, Necrozma is set to make an appearance during a special Raid Day event. During this time, both its forms – Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings – will be common in raids from 2PM to 5PM local time. Players can take advantage of this by purchasing extra Raid Passes and Remote Raid Passes, giving them the chance to participate in more raids than normal during the event. Catching Necrozma will enable players to fuse it with their existing Solgaleo or Lunala, unlocking additional effects at a cost of Energy and Candy.

If you’re aiming to get a Necrozma and move it to Pokemon Home or any of the Nintendo Switch games, joining the Raid Day is highly recommended. While battling Legendary Pokemon in Raids can be challenging, there’s no certainty of catching the Pokemon afterwards. However, it remains one of the most effective ways to secure this elusive and tricky Pokemon. Individuals who don’t usually play Pokemon GO should consider giving the mobile game a brief try during the Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma event, even if they decide not to continue playing post-event.
