However, he fails in his mission, resulting in Sakura falling ill and later discovering her own abilities as a Master. Despite his efforts to protect her, she eventually gets possessed. Nevertheless, Emiya remains determined to use every ounce of his strength to save her.

In Japan, the films generally enjoyed a positive response, often leading the box office during their debut weeks. Additionally, they received favorable reviews from specialized fan circles.

Originally, “Fate/Strange Fake” began as an April Fool’s joke on Ryogo Narita’s website on April 1, 2008. Narita, the creator of “Durarara”, posted it as a humorous take on the “Fate” series, titled “Fake/states night“. However, despite its initial jest, it eventually led to a full-fledged novel series and manga.

The story unfolds within the United States, where an attempt is made to replicate the Third Holy Grail War. In 2023, the anime adaptation of “Strange Fake” – known as “-Whispers of Dawn-” – was released, acting as a precursor to this upcoming TV series. The cast and main crew have returned for this new project, and both the series and special are under the production of studio A-1 Pictures.
