Dragon Ball: 7 Times Yamcha Got Embarrassed By His Opponent

In the world of Dragon Ball, it’s common to see regular humans easily defeated by incredibly strong enemies from across the universe. While powerful characters like Goku and Vegeta – and even their part-Saiyan children – can hold their own against most villains, ordinary humans without any special powers usually don’t stand a chance.

It’s no surprise that Yamcha often loses in Dragon Ball and gets made fun of. He’s become a well-known meme because of his defeats! While he’s a classic character who deserves some credit, most fans remember him for his unlucky battles.

Yamcha Loses His Tooth to Young Goku

I remember when Yamcha was this total desert rogue! He and his pal Puar were initially causing trouble for Goku and Bulma. Once he found out about the Dragon Balls and how they could grant wishes, he instantly decided he had to steal the Dragon Balls from them before they reached Fire Mountain. He was a tricky one!

Yamcha often failed in his attempts to succeed, so he challenged Goku to a fight, unaware of Goku’s superior martial arts skills. Despite using his signature Wolf Fang Fist, Yamcha lost a tooth when Goku struck him, damaging his appearance and causing him to flee.

Cell Jr. Breaks Yamcha’s Arm

During the Cell Saga, Perfect Cell wants to make Son Gohan unleash his hidden strength. To do this, Cell creates smaller versions of himself to battle the Z Fighters, including Yamcha.

Although Cell’s offspring are much weaker than Perfect Cell himself, Yamcha struggled when facing just one of them. He ended up with a broken arm and was repeatedly kicked while down, which was a pretty embarrassing scene, made worse by the Cell Jr.’s mocking laughter.

Saibaman Kills Yamcha

Yamcha has died many times in Dragon Ball, but his death by a Saibaman is particularly memorable. Fans often joke about his dramatic pose in that moment, and even the show’s creators referenced it during the baseball game between Universe 6 and Universe 7 in Dragon Ball Super.

Yamcha was confident he could easily defeat the Saibamen, and he quickly overpowered one. He even thought he could handle the rest on his own. But he got too focused on the fight, and a damaged Saibaman unexpectedly attached itself to him, then exploded, resulting in Yamcha’s surprising death.

Bandages the Mummy Nearly Breaks Yamcha’s Back

Inside Fortuneteller Baba’s Palace, Yamcha fought Bandages the Mummy. Despite looking frail, the Mummy proved to be a powerful opponent, quickly overwhelming Yamcha with his speed, strength, and erratic movements. Yamcha’s attacks were easily deflected, as the Mummy effortlessly countered everything he threw at him.

Bandages the Mummy easily defeated Yamcha in front of his friends, even performing a painful backbreaker that forced Puar to step in and help. Despite Yamcha’s effort and determination, this loss remains a particularly humiliating moment in his Dragon Ball fighting career.

Tien Breaks Yamcha’s Leg

Yamcha and Tien were rivals before they became friends. They first met as opponents in the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament, and didn’t get along at all – they constantly traded insults. When they finally faced each other in the tournament, both were determined to win and prove who was the stronger fighter.

Yamcha ultimately lost his battle with Tien, suffering a broken leg and even having his own Kamehameha technique used against him. Despite the defeat, Yamcha fought so bravely that Tien immediately apologized and the two became friends.

Android 20 Impales Yamcha

When Androids 19 and 20 began causing trouble on Amenbo Island, the Z fighters – including Yamcha – split up to find the androids and stop them before they could do more harm. It was hard to locate the androids, though, because they didn’t have any detectable energy (Ki).

Unfortunately, Yamcha was the first to encounter Androids 19 and 20. Because he didn’t recognize them as threats, he mistakenly warned them to leave. Before he could realize his mistake, Android 20, also known as Dr. Gero, quickly attacked, fatally impaling Yamcha as a truck burned nearby. The other Z Fighters arrived just moments too late.

Kami Toys With Yamcha

Yamcha didn’t seem to learn from his loss in the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament and made the same error in the next one. His opponent this time was Hero, an elderly man who appeared frail, but was actually possessed by the powerful Kami.

Okay, so during that fight, Kami totally tricked Yamcha! He acted like he was some beginner, barely knew how to fight, and Yamcha actually fell for it! It was awful – Yamcha’s bad decision-making led to a really embarrassing loss. I mean, can you imagine how much it must have hurt when Kami hit him there? And everyone was laughing! Poor Yamcha, it was just a really unfortunate moment for him.
