Gamers are getting ready for the release of Saros later this month, and details about the game’s large file size and when preloading will begin are now available. Building on the success of their popular game Returnal, Saros seems to be expanding on the fast-paced, action-packed combat that Housemarque is known for. As the release date gets closer, players now know how much storage space they’ll need to make room for on their PlayStation 5.
Housemarque first showed off Saros over a year ago during a PlayStation State of Play, and fans have been getting glimpses of gameplay and new details ever since. Development seems to have gone well, as the game officially went gold in early April 2026. This means the game’s content is finished, giving Housemarque about a month to polish things up – like preparing a launch day patch – before it’s released.
Saros Has a Massive File Size
- 83.440 GB
Although Sony and Housemarque haven’t released official details, the PlayStation Game Size account—which has a reliable track record—has shared a lot of new information about Saros. Players can get a good idea of what to expect when the game launches on April 30 for everyone, or April 28 for those who purchased the Deluxe Edition.
Saros is a big game, requiring around 83.44 GB of storage space. To account for future updates and patches, it’s best to have at least 100 GB of free space. Players who purchased the Deluxe Edition can start downloading the game on April 21st, while the standard edition will be available for download on April 23rd.
Owners of the Deluxe Edition can start playing Saros two days before everyone else and will receive some extra bonuses. Players will unlock four unique armor sets for the main character, Arjun Devraj, each inspired by popular games from other PlayStation Studios. One set, the Astra Armor, looks like the outfit Selene Vassos wears in Returnal. Another, the Onryo Armor, is modeled after Atsu’s appearance in Ghost of Yotei, and the Midgard Armor is based on Kratos’ look from the latest God of War games. Finally, players who preordered any version of the game will receive the Hands of the Shore armor set, which takes inspiration from the world of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding.

Their new game, Saros, will fully utilize the PlayStation 5’s capabilities with features like incredibly fast loading times, immersive haptic feedback through the DualSense controller, and 3D audio for headphone users. The game also aims to build on the visual strengths of Returnal, particularly during chaotic combat sequences where players must skillfully dodge a barrage of projectiles.
