A player in Pokemon Pokopia spent a lot of time creating a large city on their island, only to find their Pokemon were causing issues. Pokemon Pokopia lets players design their islands with a wide range of building materials and decorations.
Launched on March 5, 2026, Pokemon Pokopia rapidly became a best-selling game for the Switch 2. Its popularity stems from its calming gameplay, cute characters, and engaging story. In Pokopia, players take on the role of a Ditto who transforms into a human trainer with the goal of restoring habitats and bringing Pokémon back to various islands. Currently, the game features around 300 different Pokémon to discover and befriend.
Pokemon Pokopia Player‘s Giant City Doesn’t Have Enough Pokemon
Even though Pokopia has hundreds of different Pokemon, players won’t see them all at once. One Reddit user, OtroVitico, found this out after building a large city in Palette Town with buildings, cafes, and lots of plants, hoping around 60 Pokemon would appear. However, the game limits the number of Pokemon that can appear in any one area to 20, leaving the city looking quite empty.
I’ve been checking out the comments on Pokemon Pokopia, and so many people are loving OtroVitico’s city builds! Everyone agrees it looks amazing, even if it feels a little empty since you can’t quite fill up Palette Town with enough Pokemon yet. A lot of us are really hoping Omega Force adds a way to increase the Pokemon limit on each island in a future update – it would make everything feel so much more alive! Pokopia does a great job with regular bug fixes and fun events, but so far, they haven’t given us a way to get more Pokemon spawning on our islands, which is a bummer.
In Pokemon Pokopia, each island can only display a maximum of 20 to 22 Pokemon at once. While you can have more Pokemon on an island overall, only some will be visible at any given time, and those visible will change each day. To keep a Pokemon consistently appearing on an island, you can give it a home. Alternatively, you can use Honey to attract specific Pokemon to areas where they naturally live in Pokopia.

It’s unclear whether the Pokemon Pokopia update will lead to more Pokemon appearing in each area. The developers, Omega Force, might be prioritizing a stable game experience with standard updates and fun, temporary events where players can make friends with new Pokemon and collect items like an Inflatable Sudowoodo. They could also be working on the anticipated Pokopia DLC, which many believe will take place in the Sevii Islands – a location originally featured in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Given how popular Pokopia is, it would be a shame if it didn’t receive any major downloadable content.
