You can find a lot of Gunpowder in Windrose by defeating pirate enemies and searching their camps. Pirates often drop Homemade Gunpowder – especially Musketeers, Sergeants, and Lieutenants – and you’ll usually find Gunpowder in chests and supply packages within the camps. Alternatively, you can craft Gunpowder in Windrose, but you’ll need to progress through the Coastal Jungle and reach the second area to unlock the necessary tools and materials.

Where to Get Gunpowder in Windrose

You can find Gunpowder at almost any pirate camp in the game. Larger camps and strongholds generally provide more than smaller beach outposts. Big enemy camps not only have more enemies to defeat, but they also often contain supply packages that can give you up to 12 Homemade Gunpowder. Don’t forget to check treasure chests too – they can contain Gunpowder, weapons, and other helpful items.

In Windrose, each world is uniquely created as you play, so you’ll need to discover interesting locations and resources on your own. However, the island where you begin the game is usually consistent – it will always have a certain number of the same types of places and materials, like Clay. You can always find a Smuggler’s Cache on your starting island, and it might contain useful items like Homemade Gunpowder or a Faster Travel Bell if you’re fortunate.

How to Craft Gunpowder in Windrose

Making Gunpowder requires Ash, Sulfur, and a Millstone. However, you can’t get Sulfur or build a Millstone until you reach the Foothills. These items need resources not found in the starting Coastal Jungle area.

To make Homemade Gunpowder, you need 20 Ash and 10 Sulfur, which will create 10 units. You’ll also need to improve your Workbench if you want to build Millstone Parts.

Ash is created when you make Charcoal using a Charcoal Kiln. You can get more ash simply by burning more wood in the kiln.

How to Unlock Gunpowder Crafting Recipe in Windrose

To make Gunpowder, you’ll first need Sulfur. You can find Sulfur by breaking the large, white rocks that appear on island surfaces. You’ll need at least an Iron Pickaxe to break them. While Foothills biomes have a lot of these rocks, you can also find some on islands in the Coastal Jungle.

How to Unlock Millstone in Windrose

You’ll unlock the Millstone recipe once you find Corn. You can find Corn by visiting any of the Foothills islands and searching for Ancient Farm locations. At these farms, look for tall stalks growing from the ground – you should find plenty of Corn there. If you also find Corn Seeds, it’s a good idea to plant them at your base to create a reliable food supply.
