Hey everyone, so there’s this new little game called Hello, Yoshi that just dropped on Nintendo Switch, and the best part is, it’s totally free! Honestly, after having a Switch for over nine years, free games are pretty rare. We get some good deals on the eShop now and then, and Nintendo Switch Online gives us a bunch of retro games, but a genuinely free experience? That doesn’t happen often, so I grabbed it right away!
Released earlier this year for Nintendo Switch, the Hello, Mario app lets players playfully interact with the famous video game character. Inspired by Super Mario 64, it’s designed for simple fun – you can stretch Mario’s mustache, pull his ears, and more. The app aims to provide a more laid-back experience, especially for younger players, compared to traditional, fast-paced Mario games.
Hello, Yoshi is Now Free on Nintendo Switch
I was so excited to hear that if you have a Switch or are getting the new Switch 2, you can download Hello, Yoshi for free! It’s a lot like Hello, Mario, but instead of playing with Mario, you get to hang out with Yoshi. You can stretch his face, play peekaboo, and even make stuff from the Mario games appear. With Yoshi being such a big part of The Super Mario Movie, it’s a really smart move by Nintendo to give younger fans something new to enjoy!
We might see more apps like these come to the Nintendo Switch, but it will likely depend on how parents and kids react to them. Nintendo has plenty of characters from the Mario universe that could be featured, and villains like Bowser or Wario could offer a fresh take compared to the usual heroes like Mario and Yoshi. Nintendo’s recent ‘My Mario’ campaign suggests they’re actively trying to find new ways to connect with younger players using their popular characters.
While Hello, Yoshi might not grab the attention of long-time Yoshi fans due to its content and focus, there are many other great Yoshi games available on both the original Switch and the newer Switch 2. Yoshi first appeared in Super Mario World back in 1991 and has been a beloved part of the Super Mario series ever since. You can currently play as Yoshi in games like Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Mario Kart World, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and many others.
