While there are many Abyss Gears available, only a few are truly effective. We’ve compiled a list of the best Abyss Gears to use for every armor slot, including your shield, to help you choose wisely.
Here’s a guide to the best Abyss Gear for armor in Crimson Desert. We’ll cover how to obtain these powerful upgrades and explain why they’re so valuable. Equipping these components will significantly boost your defenses, helping you defeat even the toughest enemies and bosses.
You can equip up to 10 Abyss Gears on your armor, including your shield. We’re showing 8 here because some Gears are best used in pairs, and we’ll point those out.
Momentum
- Extracted from the Leather Helm of the Fallen Kingdom, which is found in a Treasure Chest at the Sanctum of Benediction, south of the “E” in “Hernand”.
- +35% Turning Slash Damage.
Because you’re planning to use Volcanic Eruption, which needs the Turning Slash skill, you’ll also want to get Momentum, another powerful Abyss Gear. Momentum instantly boosts Turning Slash damage by 35%, and when combined with Volcanic Eruption, it will significantly speed up how quickly you defeat bosses.
Turning Slash is a fantastic attack, and Momentum makes it even better than any other Abyss Gear. We highly recommend using it, and since you can only equip one Abyss Gear on your headgear at a time, that’s where it should go.
Volcanic Eruption
- Extracted from the Scorchflame Plate Gloves, which can be obtained from the Twilight Grotto Cave, behind the north Denn River waterfall that’s west of Demeniss. (Enter the waterfall with Stab, which is R1+Triangle)
- Press (R2+L2) after Turning Slash (R1+R2) to shatter a molten boulder, dealing fire damage to nearby enemies.
Volcanic Eruption is a key piece of Abyss Gear for your armor. To use it, you first need to unlock Flame Level 1 (you can find a guide here) and then unlock Imbue Element Level 1 in your Skills. Finally, make sure Flame is equipped from the Function Wheel.
Now, you can perform the Volcanic Eruption attack during a Turning Slash (press R1 + R2) by quickly pressing L2 + R2 afterward. This powerful attack deals double damage and stuns enemies better than any other move. Because this Abyss Gear focuses on increasing your strength, we recommend equipping it on your gloves.
Flames of Judgement
- Extracted from the Eclipsed Solas Plate Gloves, obtained by defeating Lucian Bastier in the “Traitor” Main Quest in Chapter 8.
- Sends out sparks of flame to deal additional fire damage.
Similar to Volcanic Eruption, the Flames of Judgment ability needs Imbue Element Level 1 and Flame Level 1 to unlock. It takes some effort to solve the Abyss puzzles to get these, but it’s worth it! Once unlocked, your Turning Slash attacks will launch seeking flames. These flames are especially effective when used with the Volcanic Eruption ability, particularly when targeting gloves.
These fireballs automatically target enemies, causing significant damage and simplifying challenging battles. Abilities like Flames of Judgement, Volcanic Eruption, and Momentum greatly increase your damage output, making Turning Slash your most effective attack in any situation.
Haste III
- Crafted from the Gear Blueprint: Haste, which is purchased from Bari, the Witch of Kindness, found in Pailune.
- Movement Speed Lv 3.
As a player, let me tell you, getting Haste III is totally worth the effort! It takes combining two Haste II Abyss Gears – which means four Haste I Gears – but trust me, it’s a game-changer. Even just one of these Abyss Gears makes getting around this huge map so much easier, no matter where you put it. You’ll be zipping around with no problems!
Increasing your Movement Speed lets you do everything faster – walking, running, gliding, and climbing. While it might not seem like a big deal, you only need one of these special gears, and putting it in your boots is the most logical choice.
Swift III
- Crafted from the Gear Blueprint: Swift, which is purchased from Bari, the Witch of Kindness, found in Pailune.
- Attack Speed 3.
If you enjoy how much faster you’re moving, you’ll be even more impressed when your attacks speed up too. With Swift III, you’ll be able to attack much more quickly, making even slow, heavy weapons feel responsive and opening up new combat possibilities.
Okay, so I’ve been experimenting with gear, and let me tell you, a single Swift III is amazing! If you put it on your boots, it works perfectly with Haste III to give you a fantastic spot for your movement-boosting Abyss Gears. Honestly, Swift III makes a huge difference when you’re trying to attack quickly – you’ll really feel how much faster you are!
Vigor III
- Crafted from the Gear Blueprint: Vigor, which is purchased from Elowen, the Witch of Wisdom, in Hernand.
- Stamina Regen +6%
Vigor III is a great choice for your chest armor, freeing up two extra slots for Abyss Gear. It boosts your Stamina Recovery by 6%, helping you regain energy more quickly after actions like heavy attacks, blocking, and sprinting.
While you can increase your stamina by equipping multiple Vigor III Abyss Gears, we discovered that just one is usually sufficient, particularly if you carefully manage your stamina while fighting bosses. We found this approach to be much better than using Stamina Transference, which relies on adding Stamina Siphon.
Aegis III
- Crafted from the Gear Blueprint: Aegis, which is purchased from Lyselia, the Witch of Humility in Serpent Marsh, Demeniss.
- Damage Reduction 3.0
Putting an x2 Aegis III on your chest armor is a really good move. It lowers the damage you receive by 6%. While Fortification III is an option, we’re using it for something else. Plus, increasing your Defense isn’t as effective as directly reducing the amount of damage bosses do.
Aegis III doesn’t directly increase your health, but it significantly improves your ability to withstand damage. You’ll really notice the difference when fighting tough bosses that can normally defeat you in one or two hits, even with full health, so equipping a few Aegis III is highly recommended.
Fortification III
- Crafted from the Gear Blueprint: Fortification, which is purchased from Lyselia, the Witch of Humility in Serpent Marsh, Demeniss.
- Defense +9.
We suggest adding two Fortification III enchantments to your shield. Even if you don’t use a shield, the defense from your Abyss Gear still applies. These enchantments will give you a +18 bonus to your defense, allowing you to withstand more damage.
As a player, I’ve found that boosting your Defense is huge, especially when you can get it up by +18! Seriously, Fortification III is the way to go for your shield – it’s amazing, even if you don’t always get hit. Basically, the higher your Defense, the more punishment you can take and still stay in the fight, which is awesome.
