Xbox Game Pass Adds Amazing Split-Screen Multiplayer Game and More

Key Takeaways

  • Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is now available across all tiers of Xbox Game Pass, including Core.
  • XGP Core today also received DayZ and the original Goat Simulator.
  • Apart from CTR Nitro-Fueled, XGP Standard today received Forza Motorsport, Hauntii, and Humanity.

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the Xbox Game Pass lineup for December 2024 is nothing short of a gaming buffet! The addition of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled to the XGP catalog is like finding a golden ticket in a Wonka Bar – pure joy!

The well-liked game, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, has been incorporated into the collection offered by Xbox Game Pass. This beloved kart racer has made its way to Microsoft’s subscription service at the same time as three other games were added to the Standard tier of the Xbox Game Pass library.

Originating from Canadian studio Beenox, the game titled CTR Nitro-Fueled is essentially an upgraded version of Naughty Dog’s 1999 PlayStation hit, Crash Team Racing. This revamped edition was released in June 2019, garnering widespread acclaim as evidenced by its “Strong” rating on OpenCritic. This rating is based on an average score of 83 and a 90% recommendation rate. Critics lauded Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled for numerous aspects, including its vivid graphics, abundant content, and top-notch split-screen multiplayer, among others.

Approximately five and a half years after its initial launch, “Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled” has joined Xbox Game Pass. This occurred early on December 4, Eastern Time, for Xbox One and Series X/S players. Notably, the game was never adapted for PC use. Although some console exclusives like “Halo 5: Guardians” can be accessed by PC gamers with an Xbox Game Pass subscription through Xbox Cloud Gaming, “CTR Nitro-Fueled” is currently not part of this service—for now.

CTR Nitro-Fueled Is Also Available on XGP Core Starting Today

2019’s kart racer has been simultaneously included in both the XGP Standard and Ultimate collections, and it has also joined the Xbox Game Pass Core library. Noteworthy is that this collection isn’t updated as frequently as the other service tiers. Besides CTR Nitro-Fueled, the Core catalog received DayZ and the original Goat Simulator in its December 4 update. Interestingly, Goat Simulator was recently made available across all Xbox Game Pass levels following its removal from the other tiers a few years back. This isn’t an exclusive addition to Xbox Game Pass Core, but rather the return of the 2014 Goat Simulator to all Game Pass tiers.

Apart from CTR Nitro-Fueled, the December 4th update to the XGP catalog also added three additional games to the Standard-tier library: Forza Motorsport, Hauntii, and Humanity. Until Microsoft restructured its subscription tiers this past summer, these titles had been accessible to non-Ultimate subscribers. However, they were removed for new XGP Standard members at that time.

By the close of December 2024, I’m excited to play at least four additional games through my Xbox Game Pass subscription! However, it’s important to note that a dozen games are leaving our service this month, starting with “Forza Horizon 4” and six other titles on December 15.
