Black Ops 6 Zombies’ Citadelle Des Morts May Not Be Able to Top Terminus

Black Ops 6 Zombies’ Citadelle Des Morts May Not Be Able to Top Terminus

As a long-time Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 fanatic with over a decade of Zombies under my belt, I can confidently say that Treyarch has outdone themselves yet again with the upcoming Season One Reloaded update. The anticipation for Citadelle des Morts is palpable, and while it’s no easy task to live up to the legendary boss fight of Terminus, I have faith in our developers.

5th December is shaping up to be an exciting day for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” enthusiasts, as they will finally get their hands on the much-awaited mid-season update, Season One Reloaded. This update represents the halfway mark of the game’s initial season and offers a wealth of new content tailored for both the multiplayer and Zombies modes in “BO6”, as well as “Warzone”.

A significant portion of the anticipation for the Season One Reloaded update of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is due to the release of a fresh Zombies map titled “Citadelle des Morts” on December 5. This will be the third map in Black Ops 6‘s Zombies series, following a similar round-based structure as Terminus and Liberty Falls while being set within an intricate castle teeming with Medieval weapons and gear. The new map promises exciting gameplay possibilities for Black Ops 6 thanks to the return of the perk Vulture Aid and the introduction of new sword Wonder Weapons. Notably, the boss fight at the end of the map will conclude the main quest and hold significant importance for Easter egg hunters. However, Treyarch might face the challenge of living up to its own success, as it may be difficult for the finale of Citadelle Des Morts to surpass the legendary boss fight from Terminus.

Citadelle Des Morts Boss Fight Already Has Strong Competition in Black Ops 6’s Zombies

In contrast to Liberty Falls’ scaled-down Zombies mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Terminus is the map designed to impress with its extensive size and diversity in survival pathways. This is clearly demonstrated through the various islands that players can navigate by boat within Terminus, as well as the vast underground research facility hidden beneath the main areas of the map.

Many fans favor the straightforward design of Liberty Falls because of its simplicity, but the massive expanse of Terminus showcases Treyarch’s ability to blend traditional Zombies gameplay elements like secrets and claustrophobia with expansive areas for players to traverse. The complexity of Terminus is evident in its major Easter egg mission, which requires multiple steps and intricate progression, making it more complex compared to the straightforward main quest of Liberty Falls.

In essence, reaching the climax of Terminus’ significant Easter egg sends players into a distinct boss battlefield where they face off against a massive kraken-like creature. This beast repeatedly strikes the narrow walkways with its numerous tentacles. Even experienced gamers might find it challenging to defeat this monster on their initial try due to multiple damage phases and an attack that can instantly eliminate them. Many players consider the intense, memorable boss battle in Terminus as one of the finest boss fights Call of Duty: Zombies has had in a long while, and it’s likely that Citadelle des Morts will struggle to surpass this aspect more than any other part of Terminus.

Citadelle des Morts Can Use its Setting to Take its Boss Fight to the Next Level

Although Terminus’ boss fight was highly anticipated, it’s fair to say that Citadelle des Morts offers an ideal backdrop for a battle on a comparable grand scale. Indeed, Citadelle des Morts draws heavily from Medieval motifs, evident in its elemental swords known as Wonder Weapons. The Dark Aether could potentially summon ancient spirits in line with the theme, fittingly concluding the map’s own Easter egg quest.

To outdo and possibly surpass the intensity of the Terminus boss fight, Citadelle des Morts might require a formidable main adversary like a zombified dragon. This monster could interact with other known features within the map, such as catapults to inflict damage during flight. Since the Terminus Kraken uses water for swift movement and camouflage, a dragon boss in Citadelle des Morts could offer an excellent contrast. However, Treyarch has previously introduced a Dragon boss in Gorod Krovi, so to captivate long-term players, they might need to introduce something fresh. Maybe the awakening of the map’s large statue could provide the novelty, but it remains to be seen what Treyarch plans for fans.

Although Citadelle des Morts could provide an unforgettable boss battle for players, it may struggle to live up to the high expectations raised by Patient 13, as the magnitude and complexity of that fight harmoniously matched its difficulty, with the battle’s music adding an extra layer of intensity.
