Longlegs Gets Surprise Sequel Announcement

Recent years have seen a surge in original horror films that truly scare audiences. Movies like X, Barbarian, and The Innocents are great examples. But it was Longlegs that really stood out, thanks to its incredibly clever marketing campaign, making it a film everyone wanted to see.

Osgood Perkins’ 2024 horror thriller, Longlegs, benefited from a fantastic marketing campaign, but the film itself was even more terrifying than expected. Now, nearly two years later, Perkins is developing another movie set within the same world.

“Let Me In Now!” Longlegs 2 is Coming Soon

Get ready for more unsettling fun! According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new film set in the world of Longlegs is in the works. Nicolas Cage will return to star and produce, and he’ll be joined by writer/director Oz Perkins, who is also producing. Don’t expect a direct sequel, though – this movie will expand on the story and themes of the first Longlegs film. Interestingly, this time around, Paramount is handling the project instead of Neon, who produced the original.

Details about the plot of Longlegs 2 haven’t been released yet, but the first Longlegs movie centered on FBI agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) as she tried to catch a mysterious serial killer known only as “Longlegs.” He leaves behind coded messages and clues that only Harker can solve, but as she gets closer to the truth, she discovers a disturbing connection between the killer and her own past. Director Oz Perkins has quickly gained recognition as a talented horror filmmaker, with critically acclaimed movies like The Blackcoat’s Daughter and The Monkey to his name. However, Longlegs and the unsettling character of the killer are considered his best work so far.

A new movie featuring the terrifying creature is definitely exciting. Director Osgood Perkins has just finished filming his latest horror project, The Young People, and it looks like Longlegs 2 will be his next film. The original Longlegs was a huge success, earning $127.9 million worldwide on a modest $10 million budget, and becoming one of Neon’s highest-grossing films ever, thanks to smart marketing and overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Where to Watch Longlegs
