Pokemon Fan Uses 3D Printer to Make Jaw-Dropping Gengar Lich King

A Pokémon fan created a 3D-printed Gengar figure and gave it a special touch: the crown and belt of The Lich King, a major villain from the Warcraft series. They then shared their creation online. The artist noted that the figure didn’t need to be painted with multiple colors to achieve the look of Gengar as The Lich King.

Gengar, often called the Shadow Pokemon, is the final evolution of Gastly and Haunter. Since first appearing in the original Pokemon Red and Blue games, it’s become one of the most well-known Ghost-type Pokemon. Gengar is easily recognized by its playful, mischievous smile and bright red eyes, and it can learn powerful moves like Shadow Ball and Nasty Plot. Its Mega Evolution is a strong competitor in battles, thanks to the Shadow Tag ability, which stops opponents from switching to a different Pokemon.

Pokemon and Warcraft Fan Combines Gengar With The Lich King

While many artists have combined Pokémon with Nintendo characters, one fan took a different approach. On the Pokémon subreddit, a user named Daigan2 shared a 3D-printed Gengar figure reimagined as The Lich King from Blizzard’s Warcraft series. The figure features Gengar wearing The Lich King’s signature Helm of Domination, complete with a skull in the center and added black spikes. Daigan2 also gave Gengar a bone-plated belt, also adorned with a skull.

Gengar’s design was made even more menacing with the addition of dark claws. While Gengar is typically purple with red eyes, the artist, Daigan2, decided to base the design on Gengar’s rarer, shiny form, which is gray. However, instead of keeping the shiny form’s red eyes, Daigan2 blended them with the glowing blue eyes of The Lich King, resulting in a unique purple-eyed version of the Shadow Pokémon.

Who Is The Lich King?

The Lich King first appeared in the Warcraft universe during Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, The Frozen Throne. Originally, the Lich King was Ner’zhul, an orc shaman whose spirit was corrupted and trapped within icy armor. Eventually, the title and power of the Lich King passed to Arthas Menethil, the fallen prince of Lordaeron. Arthas dominated what remained of Ner’zhul’s spirit and unleashed a reign of terror, prominently featured in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King and its associated dungeons and raids. Widely considered the most memorable villain in World of Warcraft history, the Lich King caused suffering for both players and other characters. However, Arthas was ultimately defeated at Icecrown Citadel. Bolvar Fordragon then took up the mantle of the Lich King, until Sylvanas Windrunner destroyed the Helm of Domination, leading into the divisive Shadowlands expansion of World of Warcraft.
