Chapter 2 of Crimson Desert really gets going with the “End of Greed” quest. It moves beyond basic tasks to a more complex story involving the Goldleaf Merchant Guild, and you’ll be focused on important goals like saving people and finding a missing healer. The quest culminates in a boss battle against Kailok the Hornsplitter at Unicorn Cliff. If you’re stuck, this walkthrough will guide you through “End of Greed” in Crimson Desert.
The Dark Veil
Your journey starts with ‘The Dark Veil,’ establishing the atmosphere for what’s to come. Head to the Goldleaf Tradepost, which is close to where you finished your last quest in Hernand.
You’ll encounter Shakatu, who suggests the Goldleaf Merchant Guild isn’t entirely honest. Although the details are still unclear, it’s obvious something shady is happening within the guild.
While exploring, check your minimap for Sealed Abyss Artifacts. They can be hard to spot if you’re moving quickly, but collecting them is beneficial – they unlock skills and upgrades that will be very helpful, particularly when facing challenging bosses.
The Flames of Greed
The mission, “The Flames of Greed,” quickly becomes more urgent. Talking to people nearby reveals that a healer won’t work with the Goldleaf faction, and bandits have responded by burning down his home. Your next step is to head to Unicorn Cliff.
You arrive at the house to find it completely on fire. The situation is critical: someone is still inside, and you have to act fast. The doorway is blocked by burning wreckage, meaning you’ll need to use your Nature’s Grasp ability to create a path.
Once you’re inside, your goal is simple but challenging: avoid the flames, rescue the trapped person, and get them to safety before time runs out. While you have a decent amount of time, you’ll need to be quick and careful with your movements. This part focuses more on being aware of your surroundings and how you move, rather than fighting.
Kidnapped Healer
Once the rescue is complete, you’ll discover that Hubert, the healer, is the one who’s actually been taken. This starts a new quest: finding the kidnapped healer.
Head to Hernand Highlands to track down the bandits. You’ll encounter some minor enemies on the journey, which are good practice and a chance to collect extra supplies and equipment, though it might not be better than what you’re already carrying.
The bandit camp is fairly easy to handle. You can either charge in and fight, or sneak around and take out enemies quietly. Either approach works well and shouldn’t be too difficult.
Once you clear the camp, free Hubert to complete the objective.
Rebellion or Revolution
In the next section, ‘Rebellion or Revolution,’ you return to Shakatu, but the meeting doesn’t go as planned. You’re unexpectedly attacked by his guards because of a miscommunication. This fight is a bit tougher than the ones you’ve faced so far, and simply using regular attacks won’t be enough to overcome their defenses.
To succeed, combine powerful attacks with grappling or moves that break an enemy’s defense. If you’ve earned special abilities with Abyss Artifacts, now’s the moment to use them. Also, well-timed blocks can leave your opponent vulnerable, making the battle significantly easier.
After you defeat the soldiers, you’ll be able to talk to Shakatu properly. He’ll tell you what’s going on and make you an offer: if you defeat Hornsplitter, he’ll reward you and help bring peace back to the area.
Cheers Echoing From the Edge
Okay, so before I jump into the final part of the End of Greed quest, I’m making sure I’m totally prepped. That means hitting up the nearby camps to cook a bunch of food, and filling my bag with all the healing potions and stuff I’ve got. I’m also unlocking any abilities I’ve been saving – might as well have everything at my disposal! And honestly, even just a little upgrade to my gear feels worthwhile for this last push.
In the last part of the journey, ‘Cheers Echoing from the Edge,’ you’ll return to Unicorn Cliff. Getting to Hornsplitter’s camp means defeating a lot of enemies, but the best strategy is to use the cliff to your advantage – try knocking them off the edge! This is a simple way to beat them without getting hurt too much.
If you enjoy fighting up close, moves like Turning Slash are great for hitting several enemies at the same time.
After you get past the entrance, go into the camp. Be careful not to attack any friendly characters you find there.
How to Beat Kailok
Kailok is the last boss you’ll face in the End of Greed quest. He likes to keep his distance and attack with strong, long-range attacks. Watch out for his wind slashes – they move in straight lines, so dodging to the side while moving closer is the best way to avoid them. If he gets close, he’ll attack with a forward slash followed by an overhead swing. You can block both of these attacks, which creates an opening for you to strike back.
A key part of this battle is staggering the enemy. Landing strong attacks and using special moves will fill up a meter, and when it’s full, you can perform a devastating finishing move.
Okay, so Kailok has this attack where he glows red – it’s unblockable, so when you see that flash, just dodge! Seriously, don’t even think, just roll. If you time it right, he’s open to attack right after he finishes his attack. Also, during the fight, I unlocked this awesome move called the Evasive Roll. It lets me get up and move quickly after taking a hit, which is super useful for dodging and getting into a better position.
End of Greed Quest Rewards
After you beat Kailok, the End of Greed quest will be completed. You’ll get rewards like Copper and Iron Ore, as well as special items including an Abyss Artifact, a Medium Bag, and the Sword of the Lord.
