Pokemon Gen 2 Favorite Feraligatr Recreated From Recycled Metal
A Reddit user named Zotos_Workshop built an amazing, life-size sculpture of Feraligatr, the final evolved form of the Water-type Pokémon Totodile, entirely out of recycled metal. The impressive creation took approximately 82 hours to weld together and finish with spray paint. The finished sculpture looks incredibly fierce thanks to its sharp metal details, and a photo alongside the artist demonstrates just how large it is.
The artist shared a glimpse into how they created this impressive metal Feraligatr sculpture. They began with a simple sketch, planning which pieces of recycled metal would form each part of the Pokémon. They then built the basic frame and gradually added more metal to create the shape. As it took form, it became clearly recognizable as the Generation 2 Water-type starter. Finally, spray paint brought the whole piece to life. The sculpture weighs between 180 and 200 pounds, and the artist admits it’s quite heavy and difficult to move.
Pokémon Generation 2 came out in 1999, giving fans plenty of time to connect with those original Pokémon designs. That’s why they’re so frequently featured in fan art – newer Pokémon just haven’t had the same chance to become classics. The strong sense of nostalgia fans have for the older designs makes them a natural choice for artwork and tributes. This is especially true for starter Pokémon. Because players spend so much time with their starters throughout the game, they form a stronger connection with them. This means starter Pokémon are often the first ones fans choose to draw or create tributes for.

Next year marks 30 years since the original Pokémon games, and fans were hoping to see the next generation of games, Generation 10, released in 2026.
