Headless and Marze’s Surprise Attack Continues in Wistoria Season 2 Episode 2

Wistoria Season 2 Episode 2 Recap

Headless and Marze arrived just in time, as monsters from the dungeon were about to destroy the capital. These creatures were incredibly powerful, even capable of defeating skilled High Mages like Rodge. What made them especially dangerous were the Mage Slayer swords they carried. These weapons are designed to counter magic users, effectively neutralizing and absorbing spells, and rendering mages vulnerable.

Caldron believes the Mage Slayers were likely made quickly and in large numbers, timed to coincide with the Terminalia – a period when powerful Magia Vanders are at their most vulnerable. These swords resemble the one Finn brought back from his previous expedition with Master Aaron. Although Finn eventually identified who created the Mage Slayers, he couldn’t learn anything more, so the weapons’ origins and the broader plot behind them remain unknown.

The mages worked together to handle the monsters without weapons, while Will Serfort quickly defeated the armed ones with his large sword, astonishing Marze and Headless. But the villains didn’t surrender; instead, they summoned a formidable monster named Devander from deep within the dungeon. Devander was far more powerful than anything Will had faced before, even stronger than the Grand Duke he’d fought in the All-Student Praxis.

The Magia Vander Are Powerless to Help

Although the Magia Vander are Wistoria’s most powerful mages, they were caught off guard by Marze and Headless’ attack on the capital. Having recently used most of their magic to rebuild the Great Barrier – which still shields the city – they simply don’t have enough power left to fight effectively.

I watched as Master Aaron made the difficult decision to keep the Magia Vander out of the battle. He knew the villains were specifically targeting their leaders, and if even one of them fell, the protective barrier would collapse. That wouldn’t just endanger us here, but would open the world – not just Rigarden Magical Academy – to a full-scale invasion by the Celestial Host. It was agonizing for them, wanting so badly to help, but they were forced to remain in the tower, watching the High Mages and students fight to defend the capital.

Mages and Dwarves Form an Alliance

In Wistoria, mages and dwarves have joined forces for the very first time, following Master Aaron’s orders to combat the monsters lurking in the dungeons. Thanks to Iris, the long-standing ban on dwarves fighting has been removed. Because the monsters carry special swords that block magic, the strong and skilled dwarves are taking on the monsters directly, while the mages provide cover and support from afar.

The Devander Forces Will Serfort Into a No-Way-Out Situation

Will Serfort fought bravely against the dungeon’s monsters and earned their respect. However, facing the Devander – a much stronger monster from the 40th floor – was a different story. The Devander is far more powerful than even a grand duke, and Will was helpless against it. To make matters worse, the Devander can absorb defeated monsters, making itself even stronger.

Despite receiving help from dwarves and other mages, Will Serfort was easily overcome by the Devander in a single blow. Marze watched from afar, gleefully enjoying the Devander’s ruthless display of power. Now, only Will remains to face the Devander, but he’s currently not strong enough to win.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 Episode 2 Ends Tragically

Is Rosty Dead in Wistoria?

In the second episode of Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2, Rosty bravely sacrifices himself to keep his promise to protect Will Serfort. Right before a deadly blow from the Devander could hit Will, Rosty jumps in the way, taking the attack himself and saving Will’s life.

Will, I’ll always be by your side.—Rosty to Will Serfort

Watching Rosty sacrifice himself completely stunned Will Serfort, but the shock quickly turned to intense anger. It feels like the classic anime moment where the hero unlocks a hidden power, overcomes their limitations, and fights back with newfound strength against a seemingly unbeatable foe like Devander. Many viewers would expect Will Serfort to demonstrate an incredible new ability in the next episode.
