Orochimaru from the village of Konohagakure is notorious among Naruto fans for the deeply unsettling things he did throughout the series. He used countless innocent people – kids, prisoners, even other ninja – all in the name of unlocking the secrets of genetics and cloning, trying to understand what makes us tick. And the worst part? He didn’t even feel bad about it! He genuinely believed these sacrifices were just a necessary evil, a price worth paying for ‘progress.’ It’s chilling to think about.
Furthermore, Orochimaru went so far as to tamper with the DNA of the legendary First Hokage, implanting his cells in an attempt to replicate the powerful Wood Release technique. Though many shinobi perished in the process, only one successful subject resulted from these dangerous experiments. With Kabuto Yakushi’s help, Orochimaru continued these unethical studies, delving even deeper into forbidden jutsu.

I remember Orochimaru – he was once incredibly respected in the Leaf Village, a true prodigy. But he grew to resent the village after they exiled him, feeling they didn’t appreciate his talent. He was even considered a possible successor to the Hokage, but his drive to overcome the limitations of the human body, coupled with a darker side to his personality, ultimately ruined his reputation. It was a sad fall from grace to watch.
Orochimaru’s research led to powerful abilities like summoning the dead and creating cursed seals. However, he mainly used these skills to cause trouble for the Hidden Leaf Village. He briefly joined the Akatsuki hoping to steal Itachi Uchiha’s body and Sharingan, but his overconfidence ultimately led to his defeat.
Throughout the story, Orochimaru remains fixated on Konoha, driven by his deep-seated hatred for the village he used to know. This hatred led him to kill the Third Hokage and later target Sasuke Uchiha, hoping to take over his body and powerful visual abilities.
Orochimaru Is Still the Most Unhinged Scientist in Naruto
Orochimaru’s Crimes Outclass Amado Sanzu’s Work
Similar to Orochimaru, Amado has been presented as a brilliant but unethical scientist in Boruto. Now that Orochimaru has reformed, Amado seems to have taken his place as the series’ resident mad scientist. Like Orochimaru before him, Amado experimented on children while working with Jigen (also known as Isshiki Otsutsuki), all in an attempt to create the perfect host for Isshiki. These experiments resulted in the deaths of many children, with only Kawaki and Code surviving.
Amado conducted experiments using cells from Shibai Otsutsuki, implanting them into humans he had altered with technology. Many of these experiments worked, and several high-ranking members of Kara developed Shibai’s unique dojutsu. However, his past, specifically his unethical experiments on his deceased daughter, continues to haunt and motivate him down a dangerous path.

Even with all he’s done, Amado’s experiments aren’t as shocking or terrifying as Orochimaru’s. Orochimaru has a much longer and more disturbing history of dangerous research, manipulating bodies, and treating people cruelly in his experiments. He was also a truly treacherous villain, believing himself to be a god, who would exploit and betray anyone – even his friends – to achieve immortality and gain more knowledge.
