Shota Aizawa and Izuku Midoriya
- Anime: My Hero Academia
Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku, gained admirers throughout My Hero Academia, including the popular hero All Might and the pro hero Shota Aizawa, or Eraserhead. While All Might became a mentor and father figure to Deku, Aizawa initially doubted Deku’s potential. He saw Deku as a problem child due to his impulsive behavior and difficulty controlling his powers. Deku, in turn, underestimated Aizawa’s Erasure quirk, viewing him as less powerful than other established Pro Heroes.
Deku and Aizawa didn’t initially trust each other, but over time they grew to appreciate each other’s abilities and shortcomings. They became fiercely protective of one another, always willing to fully rely on each other when it counted.
Whis and Son Goku

Throughout the Dragon Ball series, Son Goku trained with many different characters. He learned from people like Master Roshi, King Kai, and Kami, pushing himself through tough training to become incredibly powerful.

Sure, he eventually builds connections with Iruka and Kakashi, but his relationship with Jiraiya, one of the legendary Sannin, was something truly special – it really changed him on a deep, personal level.
Learning from Jiraiya was challenging for Naruto, involving unusual training and harsh lessons, especially when Jiraiya was away researching the Akatsuki and writing his book. Silvers Rayleigh and Monkey D. Luffy

Training someone as strong and independent as Monkey D. Luffy is a real challenge. He’s headstrong, often protests, and prefers to do things his own way, no matter what. It’s not surprising he usually figures out new abilities on his own, trusting his instincts and pushing himself to improve rather than seeking guidance from a powerful teacher in the world of One Piece.

Gojo Satoru was an early believer in Yuji Itadori, even after Yuji swallowed Sukuna’s finger at the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen. If Gojo hadn’t trusted Yuji’s potential, the Council of Elders might have killed him right away, preventing him from becoming the strong jujutsu sorcerer he is.
Throughout the story of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji Itadori discovers that Gojo is much more than just an incredibly powerful sorcerer. Despite being the strongest in the world, Gojo is a mentor who secretly struggles with huge responsibilities – protecting his students and fighting against problems within the entire system.
Genkai and Yusuke Urameshi
- Anime: Yu Yu Hakusho
Yusuke Urameshi went through intense training with Genkai in Yu Yu Hakusho. He had to fight in dangerous battles against powerful opponents to prove he was worthy of learning from her. Though he ultimately succeeded, Genkai’s training was incredibly demanding and not for the faint of heart.
Yusuke Urameshi owes a huge part of his strength to Genkai. She helped him develop his Spirit Gun and likely enabled him to defeat Younger Toguro, a very powerful fighter and Genkai’s old teammate, during the Dark Tournament. Without her guidance, Yusuke wouldn’t have reached nearly the same level of power.
Saitama and Genos
- Anime: One-Punch Man
In One-Punch Man, Saitama, despite having no teaching experience, reluctantly agrees to train Genos, a demon cyborg. Saitama’s training method mainly consists of encouraging Genos to improve and pointing out his weaknesses whenever the cyborg returns from battles damaged.
Genos completely trusts Saitama, always believing in his strength and even seeing deep meaning in his everyday actions. Despite their differences, they’ve formed a close bond as teacher and student, both motivated by the desire to battle strong enemies.
Sakonji Urokodaki and Tanjiro Kamado
- Anime: Demon Slayer
Throughout the series Demon Slayer, Tanjiro Kamado has grown from a novice unaware of Muzan Kibutsuji and his demons, to a skilled hunter leading the charge against them within the Infinity Castle, alongside the strongest members of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Tanjiro likely wouldn’t have survived or become a demon slayer without the help of Sakonji Urokodaki. Urokodaki, a former Water Hashira, continued to train demon slayers even after leaving the main battles, teaching his unique Water Breathing style to both Tanjiro and the current Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka.
Korosensei and Nagisa Shiota
- Anime: Assassination Classroom
Another popular choice is Assassination Classroom, featuring Korosensei and his student, Nagisa Shiota, from the notorious Class 3-E at Kunigigaoka Junior High. Korosensei is a remarkably powerful teacher in the anime world, possessing incredible strength, speed, and stamina – he’s even capable of changing the shape of the moon!
Nagisa Shiota is a gifted student of Korosensei, surprisingly skilled in assassination despite being quiet and reserved. Through Korosensei’s rigorous and unusual training, Nagisa developed into a formidable assassin, particularly adept at stealth and silent attacks.
