A Pokemon fan with woodworking talent recently created a beautiful carving of Mew, one of the franchise’s most lovable characters. The detailed design really captures Mew’s cuteness, and it’s been getting a lot of positive attention from other Pokemon fans online, who are eager to see more of the artist’s work.
With over a thousand Pokémon appearing across nine generations of games, and more coming in the tenth, fan-created artwork has become incredibly popular. Over the years, fans have shared countless pieces of art online, often reimagining their favorite Pokémon in creative ways. Mew, a cute and mysterious Psychic-type Pokémon first introduced in the very first games, is a particularly common subject for these fan projects.
Wood Carving of Mew Makes the Pokemon Even Cuter
A fan named Illustrious-Rip2886 created a unique tribute to Mew by hand-carving a wooden figurine. Though small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, the carving perfectly captured Mew’s appearance, including its large back feet and long tail. The artist also gave Mew bright blue eyes.
It’s no surprise that the incredible skill shown in Illustrious-Rip2886’s creation caught the attention of the Reddit community. Their post on the Pokemon subreddit has already received over 5,200 upvotes, with many fans praising how smooth the figurine looks. One commenter asked, “Wow, it’s so clean! How did you make that?” Luckily, the creator explained they used a CNC machine for the basic shape and then hand-carved the details. People also noticed the light color of the wood, which reminded them of the pink coloring of the Pokemon Mew, though the specific type of wood wasn’t mentioned.
I’ve noticed a lot of amazing Pokemon fan art features wood carving, and Illustrious-Rip2886 is a seriously talented artist!
