Nintendo Isn’t Responsible For All The References In The Mario Galaxy Movie

In a recent interview, Shigeru Miyamoto talked about The Super Mario Bros. Movie and clarified that Nintendo wasn’t responsible for all the nods to older Nintendo games included in the film.

The first Super Mario Bros. Movie was packed with references to Nintendo games, especially those from the older, 8-bit days. You could spot little details referencing titles like Duck Hunt, Punch-Out, and Star Fox throughout the film, alongside nods to Mario’s overall history. Nintendo created these games, so they have a unique, insider’s view on how they were made and the effect they’ve had.
