What is the Path of Exile 2 Trade Site (and How to Use it)

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in various MMOs and ARPGs, I can wholeheartedly say that the trade system in Path of Exile 2 is a breath of fresh air. Coming from games where loot drops are strictly tied to your character class, the open trade market in PoE 2 brings a sense of freedom and opportunity that I’ve longed for.

As a devoted fan, I’d say that what makes Path of Exile 2 truly exceptional is how it transcends being just a single-player game, morphing into a dynamic, alive ARPG thanks to the player-driven economy. While there’s no shortage of loot in PoE 2, the distribution isn’t confined by the character class that finds the item. Instead, a Mercenary might stumble upon gear intended for a Ranger, while a Monk could grab a Staff more suited to a Sorceress.

The only way to reliably obtain the perfect armor set and weapons for your class is to use the open trade market and get them. Relying on the loot RNG to bless you with a powerful item and then have that item be suitable not only for your class but your build as well is a pipe dream and an agonizing way to play. Luckily, trading weapons, gear, and valuable items in PoE 2 is very straightforward. Here’s how.

How to Trade Items With Players in PoE 2

There are two possible ways to trade with someone in Path of Exile 2:

  1. To initiate a trade with someone whose character is in the same instance as you, right-click on their avatar and select ‘Trade’ as shown in the screenshot above. This only works if both characters are in the same town and instance at the same time. In this case, you do not need to be in the same party for the trade request to go through.
  2. To initiate a trade with someone through direct messages, like through Whispers or Global Chat, right-click their name in the chat and select ‘Invite To Party.’ Once they accept, teleport to their location by clicking on the blue swirl/circle on their avatar. Once you’re both in the same instance, right-click their name again and select ‘Trade’. Wait for them to accept to continue the process.

During a trade, the ‘Accept’ button can only be clicked once both parties have hovered over the item being offered by the other player. This feature is designed to prevent either party from being deceived or defrauded during the exchange process.

Path of Exile 2 Trade Site (and How it Works)

Just as in Path of Exile 1, Path of Exile 2 features a specialized trading platform located on its official site for seamless and user-friendly item trading among players. The address is easily accessible: Path of Exile 2 Trading Site (Official).

Players can use the website to buy weapons and gear from other players or sell their items.

  2. Click on Copy Whisper and an auto-generated message including the seller’s @handle will be copied to clipboard.
  3. Paste the message into the in-game chat, and a whisper will be sent to the seller.
  4. Right-click the seller’s name and click ‘Invite to Party.’
  5. Once you’re in the party, right-click their avatar and select ‘Visit Hideout’ or teleport to their location by clicking the circle inside their party portrait.
  6. Send a trade invite.
  7. Deposit the agreed-upon price in your section, and hover over the items the seller puts in their section to confirm their authenticity.
  8. Click ‘Accept’ and the trade will be complete.

How to Sell Items on PoE 2 Trade Site

To list items for sale on the official Path of Exile 2 trading platform, simply purchase a Premium Stash from the Microtransaction store, then deposit the item you wish to sell within it. You can customize the name and color of this tab, and make sure it’s set to ‘Public’ so others can see your listings.

Items put within this tab will instantly appear on the PoE 2 trading platform marked as discounted. You have the option to set prices for individual items or groups of them. Now, prospective purchasers will privately message you in-game.

It’s only possible for players to openly list items for sale if they have a character at least level 25 on their account, regardless of whether they own a Premium Stash Tab or not. However, this rule doesn’t stop someone who doesn’t meet the requirements from purchasing items from sellers.
