10 DLC Characters We Want Added to Invincible VS

Now that season four of Invincible is finished and the ‘Invincible VS‘ special is almost here, I’ve been thinking about how great the show’s fight scenes are. I just wish there were more of them, featuring a wider range of characters – both heroes, villains, and those who fall somewhere in between. ‘Invincible VS’ does have a good mix of these types of characters, but it includes six Viltrumites (including Mark and Nolan), which feels like too many.

I’m so excited to hear the game will get new characters after it launches! That got me thinking about who they might add, and what kind of abilities they’d have. I could definitely make some guesses, but if I could choose anyone from the series, I’d love a mix of really popular characters alongside some surprising, lesser-known faces – a good balance of powerful heroes, everyday people, and even a few villains!

This list only includes characters who have already been shown in the series. As of right now, Universa and Immortal are the only downloadable characters that have been officially announced. If any other characters become playable later on, that will be a pleasant surprise!

Spoilers for the Invincible TV series

10. Mauler Twins

Tag-Team Terrors

Most fans agree that the Mauler Twins were among the show’s best villains – identical super-powered criminals with a knack for genetic modification. Though Oliver seemingly killed them off, many still hope they survived. Bringing them into the game would be a great way to see them return.

Okay, so from what I’ve seen, the Maulers aren’t exactly bursting with crazy powers. They’re mostly just really tough and strong. Honestly, what really makes them dangerous isn’t some superpower, it’s how well they work together and their tech skills. It makes total sense, though – they’re literally the same person, so they’re bound to be in sync, even if they’re always bickering about who’s the original and who’s a clone!

There are a couple of ways they could work in the game. They could both be on screen at the same time, or one could fight while the other provides ranged support, like shooting or throwing objects. They could even have a special move similar to Ghostface in Mortal Kombat 1, where one character grabs the opponent while the other attacks them.

9. Shrinking Rae

Good Things Come in Small Packages

Shrinking Rae started as part of the Teen Team before becoming a Guardian of the Globe. She can decrease her size at will, but remains just as strong as any normal human. Although she stepped down from the Guardians shortly before the Invincible War, her history doesn’t necessarily affect whether she can be included in fighting games.

Rae’s fighting style would probably be similar to Atom from Injustice 2 – she’d move around quickly, jumping and changing size to deliver a variety of punches, kicks, and grabs. While she can’t become incredibly small or large, she could shrink enough to confuse opponents and dodge attacks because of her reduced size.

For her ultimate ability, Rae could use a move similar to the one she attempted on Komodo Dragon: diving down into her opponent and attacking from inside their body. I suggest focusing on attacking from within rather than trying to grow and burst out, because that didn’t succeed before, and it would likely be difficult to create the animation for.

8. The Lizard League

Let the Jobbers Have their Chance

The Lizard League is a group of reptile-themed supervillains, similar to a secret society, who have been fighting superheroes for years. They’re usually portrayed as minor enemies for the Guardians of the Globe to easily defeat, but once they almost succeeded in stealing a nuclear weapon. That attempt ended badly, with all of their leaders being killed.

The Lizard League is led by King Lizard, a cunning strategist, and includes powerful members like Iguana, a skilled fighter, Salamander, a martial arts expert, and Komodo Dragon, who possesses incredible strength. They command a group of common criminals. While none of them are particularly remarkable on their own, the Lizard League functions effectively as a team, making them a potentially interesting choice for a fighting squad.

We envision King Lizard as a central character, functioning much like Doronjo from Tatsunoko VS Capcom or Parasoul from Skullgirls. He’d be able to summon his soldiers to act as defenses or launch attacks from a distance. For quick special moves, he could send in Sicc Iguana and Komodo Dragon, and when needed, he can even use a gun for direct attacks.

7. Space Racer

Notoriously Hard to Kill

Nolan spent his life writing exciting science fiction novels, drawing on his experiences traveling the universe for the Viltrum Empire. One of his books, “The Man with the Invincible Gun,” featured Space Racer, an immortal wanderer with a weapon capable of defeating anyone. Unbeknownst to readers, Space Racer is a real person, and he was furious that Nolan had left him trapped under debris on an asteroid for a hundred years.

Space Racer is an alien whose background is unknown, but he has a unique ability to mentally connect with and control his technology. This includes an incredibly fast Space Bike – faster than even a Viltrumite could handle – and his famous Infinity Ray. The Infinity Ray is a special weapon that only responds to its true owner, making Space Racer a truly exceptional individual.

Space Racer is most similar to Ghost Rider in Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3. Like Ghost Rider, Space Racer could call upon his Space Bike for quick attacks and agile movements. He’d also have the Infinity Ray, a powerful weapon used for long-range attacks. To balance gameplay, regular attacks and ultimate moves would need different levels of power, considering how strong the Infinity Ray is.

6. Darkwing II

Who’s Afraid of the Dark?

The first Darkwing was a key member of the Guardians of the Globe, relying on gadgets and martial arts skills since he didn’t have any superpowers. After he was killed by Omni-Man, his former sidekick, Nightboy, became the new Darkwing, now known as Darkwing II. Unlike the original, Darkwing II does have superpowers, though he struggles with a quick temper, which he’s trying to control.

Darkwing II has a link to the Shadow-Verse, a vast and empty realm of darkness that might contain dangerous creatures. He can create portals to enter and exit this realm whenever he wants, giving him exceptional speed and maneuverability. He can also use it as a convenient place to imprison his enemies.

Darkwing II would be a playful and deceptive fighter, quickly moving around the arena to confuse enemies and using his portals to fly at them. His most powerful attack would involve grabbing an opponent and pulling them into a dark dimension, where a terrifying creature would briefly attack them.

5. Doc Seismic

Let’s Shake Things Up

Doc Seismic first appeared in the show’s initial season as a relatively minor villain. He’s a crazed seismologist who uses self-made braces to create earthquakes and spread his political opinions. Although his beliefs are often unclear, his technology is powerful enough to make him a real danger, even to strong heroes like Invincible and Atom Eve.

After failing to conquer Mount Rushmore, he traveled to the Earth’s core, where he enhanced his powers over earthquakes and learned to communicate with the Magmanites, a race living underground. He then planned to capture all of Earth’s superheroes with their help. While he’s not usually a major threat, he occasionally manages a lucky hit.

Okay, so seismokinesis – controlling the earth – isn’t something you see a lot in fighting games. It made me think, who could pull that off? Doc Seismic feels like a good fit, but his moveset wouldn’t be super complicated. I’m picturing things like sending out shockwaves, maybe a ground-pound that stuns opponents, and summoning some of those Magmanite creatures. Pretty straightforward, honestly.

4. Angstrom Levy

I Thought He Was Stronger

Angstrom Levy is a major villain throughout the Invincible story, in both the comic book and the animated series. He started as a well-meaning character who could travel between dimensions, but a mishap involving Invincible and a science experiment caused him to fuse with versions of himself from other dimensions, driving him insane. After a direct confrontation with Mark Grayson (Invincible) resulted in severe injuries, he was rebuilt with cybernetic enhancements and ultimately initiated a large-scale conflict – the Invincible War – by unleashing alternate versions of Mark from different dimensions.

Angstrom’s main power is creating dimensional portals. He can make these portals any size and connect them to countless alternate realities. This allows him to travel instantly and avoid danger, but he can also use them to bring in allies or weapons, and even trap his enemies in other dimensions. He also commands a group of drone orbs that can overwhelm opponents with metallic debris.

Like Darkwing Duck II, Angstrom would probably move around the screen using portals. He could also create portals beneath or behind opponents to pull them closer, and send out his drones in any direction.

3. Damien Darkblood

Hurm

In the world of Invincible, Hell is a genuine place with a surprisingly complex history. One of its most memorable inhabitants is Damien Darkblood, a demonic detective who shows up whenever strange murders occur, always accompanied by a cold breeze. He first appeared in season 1, investigating the deaths of the Guardians of the Globe, but was then sent back to Hell and didn’t return until season 4.

Damien might not look like a fighter with his fedora and trenchcoat, but he’s incredibly tough. He’s exceptionally strong and can heal from almost any injury, practically making him immortal. Plus, he’s skilled in dark magic and can summon demons. He’s also a seasoned warrior with a battleaxe, which he started using at his sister’s urging.

I imagine Damien would play a lot like Jason Voorhees from Mortal Kombat X. He’d be able to shrug off some attacks, quickly move around the screen using an icy mist, and use his axe for both close-up and long-distance fighting.

2. Shapesmith

Every Fighting Game Needs a Silly Character

In the first season of Invincible, Mark Grayson went to Mars to save some astronauts, but one of them had already been secretly replaced by a Martian. This Martian was fleeing an invasion on his home planet and wanted to visit Earth. Inspired by the legendary Martian Man, he became a shapeshifting superhero called Shapesmith and later joined the Guardians of the Globe. He’s still learning the ropes, and isn’t exactly a perfect hero, but he’s doing his best.

Shapesmith is a Martian with the ability to completely change his form and body, allowing him to look like a human or stretch and bend his limbs to incredible lengths. While not incredibly strong, he’s remarkably tough and can heal from almost any injury, giving him an advantage in prolonged fights.

Shapesmith is clearly inspired by Martian Manhunter and would likely fight similarly to how Manhunter appears in the Injustice game, though without the laser vision or mind control. He’d focus on stretchy attacks, grappling moves, and potentially even deflecting attacks with his flexible form.

1. Tech Jacket

She’s More Than Earned It

Zoe Thompson, known as Tech Jacket, first appeared in season 3 during the Invincible War, but became a key player in season 4. She fought alongside Mark, Nolan, Oliver, and Allen against the Viltrumites. Despite being a seemingly ordinary 15-year-old, Zoe wears a powerful Gelderian battlesuit. This suit is packed with features, including lasers, the ability to automatically repair itself, and overall boosts to her physical strength and abilities.

Zoe’s fighting style would likely be similar to Iron Man in the Marvel VS Capcom games, combining her jetpack and lasers for both long-range attacks and quick, close-up combos. She’d be a character who can constantly fire projectiles, which, believe me, some players really hate dealing with!

Zoe truly became a memorable and well-liked character in season 4, and I’d love to see her featured more. Her clever lines during battle introductions were also a highlight.
