Former God of War Art Director Rafael Grassetti Joins Naughty Dog

As a long-time gaming enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of some of the most iconic game franchises, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation with Rafael Grassetti joining Naughty Dog. His extensive experience, having worked on masterpieces like God of War and Killzone: Shadow Fall, promises to bring a fresh perspective to the table at this renowned studio.

Rafael Grassetti, who previously held the position of art director for God of War and God of War: Ragnarök, recently announced his new role at Naughty Dog on various social media platforms this past Monday morning.

Grassetti’s resignation occurred after he had spent just over a year at Netflix, where he was engaged in establishing a new studio and AAA multiplatform game. Remarkably, Grassetti’s departure coincided with the shutdown of Netflix’s game studio, known as Team Blue, which took place in October as well.

Before joining Netflix, Grassetti had a decade-long stint at Sony. In this period, he served as the art director for the God of War series. Additionally, he contributed to various games like Killzone: Shadow Fall, Infamous: Second Son, and The Order: 1886 during his time at Sony.

In Grassetti’s recent announcement, he didn’t share specific details about the project he’s been working on at Naughty Dog. Instead, all he posted was a c cryptic message saying “new chapter”. Given his move to Naughty Dog, it can be inferred that he might be involved in their upcoming game. Meanwhile, it has been announced that Troy Baker will reappear in some capacity for Naughty Dog’s next production.

“In a heartbeat I would always work with Troy,” Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann said.
