GTA 6 Has Such Power It’s Driving Launch Date Decisions For Competing Publishers

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that the gaming landscape is about to witness a seismic shift with the impending arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6. Having grown up with the series since its inception, I’ve seen firsthand how each new installment redefines the boundaries of open-world gaming.

Nobody wants to go up against Grand Theft Auto 6.

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the forthcoming open-world adventure from Rockstar Games is anticipated to break all records for a single game launch. This prediction alone has other game publishers feeling nervous, as they are apparently adjusting their own release schedules based on when Grand Theft Auto 6 will finally be unveiled.

Can’t Compete

Currently, it’s expected that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be launched worldwide in October 2025, as it usually falls within the gaming industry’s October release window. If plans remain unchanged, this highly anticipated game should hit the shelves globally around that time.

However, some folks in the industry are anticipating a delay.

In a report published in Bloomberg, Jason Schreier explained:

There’s a great deal of excitement building up, and it seems that some rival game publishers are holding off on announcing their launch dates for the fall, as per sources close to their decision-making processes who prefer to remain anonymous since they aren’t allowed to discuss these matters publicly.

Publishers are curious if GTA 6 will meet its release date or get delayed until 2026, according to some sources. They’ve decided to maintain a safe distance with their own game releases in the meantime.

It’s uncertain when that game will be released, falling within the September to November timeframe, as there’s a possibility it might coincide with GTA 6. Competing against the upcoming Rockstar Games release in their renowned series would require an exceptionally strong contender, and many publishers probably believe it’s not advisable to try.

Should Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive Software announce a postponement of GTA 6 release date tomorrow, it would be reasonable for them to schedule their other games for autumn 2025 – what a wonderful turn of events!
