Why Secret Level Opted For A Staggered Release Schedule

In an interview with Collider earlier this year, I (as a fan) was privy to the reasoning behind the unique release schedule of “Secret Level” – the splits instead of weekly or all-at-once drops. Tim Willer and Dave Wilson, the producers, highlighted industry best practices and the potential for building momentum between episodes as the primary factors influencing this choice.

Fifteen isn’t evenly divided by two; it’s more like ‘two leftovers’. This is because the concept of the show gradually gaining traction appeals to me. I hope for some buzz, so people return and perhaps spread the word. Additionally, it seems that this approach has been suggested as standard practice.

The strategy of releasing TV shows in parts has gained popularity among new productions in Hollywood, and Netflix is no exception. They’ve been using a two-episode-at-a-time release schedule for their series, applying it to recent seasons of shows like Emily in Paris, Stranger Things, and Bridgerton. Typically, Netflix releases are spaced out by several months. But for the show Secret Level, fans will only need to wait a week between episodes.
