Every Major Avenger That’s Still Missing From Marvel Rivals

As someone who’s been following the Avengers since the golden age of comics, I can’t help but feel that Marvel Rivals is missing some key pieces of the puzzle. The roster is impressive, don’t get me wrong, but it’s like attending a superhero party and finding your favorite characters missing.

Much like many superhero teams that originated in the 1960s, such as the Avengers, they’ve experienced numerous roster shifts and offshoot groups throughout their existence. However, certain members have come to embody the Avengers brand so deeply that they can be found among the ranks of Marvel Rivals.

The diverse team in Marvel Rivals, hailing from every nook of the Marvel universe, features well-known characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Hulk. Also present are Avengers associates like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Squirrel Girl, and even Jeff the Land Shark. Yet, some classic Avengers figures that could strengthen Marvel Rivals‘ roster remain unaccounted for.

Every Major Member of the Avengers That Still Needs to Come to Marvel Rivals

Ant-Man and Wasp

Back in 1963, the Avengers first made their appearance with five original members. Three of them – Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor – are already part of Marvel Rivals. That leaves only Ant-Man and Wasp, two heroes who can manipulate Pym Particles to alter their size, out of the launch-day roster. It’d be awesome if they joined Marvel Rivals, don’t you think?

In order to ensure each character has unique abilities, the game Marvel Rivals might consider placing Hank Pym’s enlarged form, Giant-Man/Goliath, in the Vanguard role, while assigning Wasp as either a Duelist or Specialist.

Captain Marvel

Although Carol Danvers didn’t initially join the Avengers at their inception, she has consistently been a part of their main team throughout different periods. In the ’80s, she was both a member and then departed from the Avengers, later reappearing in the ’90s as Warbird.

In her role as Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers took charge of the Mighty Avengers and was a key member in the New Avengers, a group that came together when Norman Osborn began leading the original Avengers. Later, during the 2010s, Carol became a mainstay on the primary Avengers team, assuming the title Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel could also serve excellently as a Vanguard in the Marvel Rivals team, given her extraordinary physical strength, capacity to absorb energy, and flight capabilities that position her as a formidable, tank-like character.

Wonder Man

One notable Avengers member from the original crew who hasn’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet but is set to debut on Disney+, Wonder Man first appeared in “The Avengers #4” back in 1964, where he clashed with the team’s founding members as a supervillain. For approximately ten years following this, Wonder Man was kept in a coma-like state, frequently revived by villains such as Kang and the Living Laser to be utilized as a weapon.

Back in 1977, I found myself liberated from my previous predicament, and I seized the opportunity to become an Avenger as part of The Avengers #160. Much like Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of numerous Avengers teams throughout the years. From the Mighty Avengers, to the Uncanny Avengers, and even the West Coast Avengers – it’s been quite an adventure!

With his robust build, high resilience, control over ionic energy, extraordinary physical power and dexterity, as well as the ability to teleport, Wonder Man would be an excellent fit for a new member of the Marvel Rivals Vanguard team.

Quicksilver

Originally introduced as a villain with his sister Scarlet Witch among the X-Men in 1964, Quicksilver switched sides and joined the original Avengers team in 1965, specifically in issue #16 of The Avengers. Despite his sister’s presence in Marvel Rivals, Pietro Maximoff wasn’t included. However, given his speedster abilities, Quicksilver could make an excellent Duelist hero in a hero shooter game, as there isn’t currently much of that playstyle available.

Vision

First appearing in “The Avengers #57” back in 1968, Vision rapidly established himself as an integral part of the superhero team, a role he has maintained ever since. Given his abilities to pass through solid objects, generate illusions, regenerate, and fly, Vision could excel as a Specialist in “Marvel Rivals.
