As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must confess that the arrival of ARMA Reforger on PlayStation 5 has sent shockwaves through my gaming community. This game, with its realistic tactical shooter mechanics, has left me utterly amazed at how it’s managed to carve out a niche for itself on consoles.
Previously, Bohemia Interactive announced that ARMA Reforger would be available on PlayStation 5 this week. What they really meant was it will be released today.
The game is up on the PlayStation Store for $39.99, and it looks like players are having a blast.
Currently, ARMA Reforger boasts an impressive average rating of 4.83, based on a total of 141 reviews. Strikingly, approximately 94% of players who reviewed the game on the Sony platform awarded it a perfect five-star rating.
In terms of console gaming, it’s extremely rare for a shooter of this skill level to leave such a significant impression.
Recently, I gave the game “Hell Let Loose,” rated 3/5 on Xbox and 4.18 on PlayStation, a shot. However, it’s not nearly as realistic as “ARMA.
Yes To Crossplay, No To Mods (For Now)
As previously mentioned, Bohemia clarified that the game, ARMA Reforger, will offer seamless multiplayer compatibility across the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X consoles, as well as personal computers.
Every time I’m hankering for some online gaming action on my PlayStation, it’s always that I gotta fork over some dough for a PlayStation Plus subscription, setting me back at least $9.99 per month in the US for the Essential plan.
If you’re just planning to play ARMA Reforger, the additional cost could seem a bit steep. However, overall, it’s still a good service, though it doesn’t offer the same level of value as Xbox Game Pass does.
The game requires approximately 20 GB of disk space to install, keeping in line with its Xbox and PC counterparts.
Playing a game that’s so succinctly designed is incredibly invigorating, particularly when discussing a shooter boasting two expansive open-world maps covering a combined area of 61 square kilometers. It offers a multitude of vehicles, weaponry, and character models, adding to the overall immersion.
As an avid gamer, I’ve been eagerly anticipating STALKER 2. While its map size is comparable, it’s a bit disappointing to learn that the installation requirements stretch up to around 150 GB. Don’t get me wrong, STALKER has a level of detail that sets it apart from games like ARMA. However, I can’t help but question a sevenfold difference in installation size, especially since they belong to different genres.
The only bad news about the ARMA Reforger PlayStation 5 launch is that the game does not have modding support as of now.
In order to fully enjoy ARMA Reforger, it’s important to note that its potential is significantly enhanced by using mods, much like any other successful title from Bohemia Interactive.
The team has made it clear that they intend to incorporate this feature at a future time, and they’re collaborating with Sony to discover methods to seamlessly integrate it into the PlayStation system in the meantime.
For now, you’re free to savor the newest upgrade for your PlayStation 5, featuring silencers for the AK-74 and M16 rifle lineage.
As ARMA Reforged wraps up the year with a bang for console first-person shooter enthusiasts, you can anticipate even more excitement next year since the creators of Six Days in Fallujah have verified that the game will be released on Xbox and PlayStation during the second half of the year.
