As a seasoned space adventurer with countless galactic encounters under my belt, I must say that the choices one makes while playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic can truly shape one’s character. Among these choices, some stand out as particularly questionable, and even downright evil.
One standout feature of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is that players have the freedom to decide their own journey based on the choices they make throughout the narrative. As they traverse various planets, they will encounter numerous situations where they must choose between paths of compassion or ruthlessness and destruction.
In the game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, every choice a player makes propels them towards either a path shrouded in virtue or one steeped in darkness – the Light Side or the Dark Side of the Force. This decision influences how their allies perceive them, their abilities, and various other aspects. Interestingly, many players often find the Dark Side’s allure more compelling because it promises an easier life. Here are some particularly malevolent choices a player can make in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
6. Kill The Giant Firaxan Shark
A Rash Decision That Impacts Billions
- Killing the giant Firaxan Shark has dire consequences
- Poisoning the Kolto source raises the price of medical supplies
In the underwater realm called Manaan, there reside intelligent beings called Selkath, introduced in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. This world boasted some of the most intricate ecosystems for its era. Although many creatures inhabited areas above the water, deep-sea dwellers like Firaxan Sharks thrived on the ocean floor. During a mission to retrieve a piece of the Star Map on Manaan, players encounter a puzzle involving compressed tanks.
Players have two options: they can opt to demolish a facility extracting resources from the deep-sea fissure or contaminate the colossal Firaxan Shark that safeguards the Star Map. Picking the second option means they’ll be eliminating an ancient creature, and potentially endangering the Kolto reserve, which provides medical aid to countless beings.
5. Kill The Wookie In The Shadowlands
An Unnecessary Kill That Brings Nothing Good
- Killing the Wookie in the Shadowlands is not recommended, as he could later be an ally
- Chuundar’s words must not be trusted
In the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Kashyyyk is widely regarded by many as one of the most compelling planets. This assessment is not unwarranted, given its ties to the enigmatic Wookies and its exploration of significant themes like societal struggles, corporate dominance, and royal blood feuds.
As a passionate adventurer, my first encounter with Chuundar, the revered Chieftain of his tribe, sets me on an intriguing quest. He assigns us the challenging task of locating a belligerent Wookiee in the ominous Shadowlands, rumored to be mentally unstable. Upon finding this creature, it swiftly becomes apparent that he’s not as mad as Chuundar might suggest. In a moral dilemma, we are given two options: either end his life or offer him a Medpac for healing. Needless to say, opting for the former path is undeniably sinister.
4. Kill Juhani
A Merciless Act Against A Lost Soul
- Juhani killed her master in anger, making her feel like there was no return from that point
- She can join players’ parties if they spare her
While searching for fragments of the Star Map on Dantooine, players might be assigned a mission by the local Jedi Council at their academy – a quest to locate a missing Padawan believed to have succumbed to the Dark Side. Upon reaching the Tainted Grove, they’ll cross paths with Juhani who will aggressively engage them in combat. Meanwhile, she may also freeze and immobilize the players’ companions, resulting in a one-on-one confrontation between the player and Juhani.
After overcoming her, players will face a decision: either grant her mercy and guide her back to the Light Side or end her for her actions. Despite being capable of greatness as a Dark Jedi, it’s clear that Juhani truly shines in her ordinary form.
3. Kill The Tusken In Tatooine
Dialogue Is Always The Better Choice
- Players will get paid a flat fee for every Gaffi stick they collect
- Slaughtering the Tusken camp is extremely evil
Upon reaching Tatooine in search of another piece of the Star Map, players must first acquire a hunting license from the Czerka Corporation to pass beyond the massive iron gate at Anchorhead. During their visit to the offices, an employee may propose a side job to them. If the players express interest, she will share that Tusken raiders have been causing issues and suggest that the Czerka Corporation offers a generous reward for each Gaffi stick they bring in.
If a player values Credits over Tusken Raider lives, they have the option to raid the Tusken Raider camp and kill many of its inhabitants for a large number of Gaffi Sticks, including those belonging to the Chief, which are particularly valuable in terms of Credit value.
2. Side With Chuundar
The Czerka Corporation Is The Ultimate Evil In The Galaxy
- Siding with Chuundar means backing an evil corporation
- Zaalbars demeanor towards players will change significantly if they choose this outcome
Upon reaching Kashyyyk, players will find themselves in a world that’s being heavily influenced by the corporate grip of the Czerka Corporation. As they journey through this planet, they’ll encounter disturbing signs of exploitation such as slavery, forced labor, and displacement of the native population. This blatant disregard for the welfare of Kashyyyk’s inhabitants solidifies the Czerka Corporation as one of the galaxy’s most malevolent factions.
After players locate the Star Map and return to Rwookrrorro village, Chuundar and his brother Zaalbar will have a debate, during which Chuundar justifies that the Czerka Corporation serves as a necessary evil for the planet. Players then have the option to align themselves with Chuundar, an action that implicitly supports the Czerka Corporation.
1. Kill Your Friends
The Ultimate Betrayal, Fit For A Sith Lord
- Players can side with Dark Side Bastila at the temple
- Killing companions at the temple is exactly what Darth Revan would have done
In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, this is undeniably the most malevolent decision a player can make. Players who haven’t progressed far into the game should exercise caution, as significant spoilers lie ahead. When players and their companions reach the end of the temple on Rakata Prime, they will come face to face with Dark Side Bastila.
If players opt for the path leading to darkness, they have an option to converse with Bastila and persuade her to aid in defeating Darth Malak. This way, they could dominate the galaxy together as the most influential Sith of all time. However, making this choice will lead their previous comrades to confront them in battle. Given that their allies remained loyal even after discovering their past identity as Darth Revan, opting to eliminate them for power is an act that cannot be pardoned.
