As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Marvel Rivals has truly outdone itself at launch with its diverse roster of heroes. From Iron Man to Groot, and from Wolverine to Jeff the Land Shark, it’s a veritable smorgasbord of superheroes for players to choose from. However, as someone who often finds myself playing the healer role in multiplayer games, I must admit that the selection is a bit sparse at the moment.
From the outset, Marvel Rivals provides a diverse lineup of over 30 characters for players to select. They can unleash destruction as Iron Man, erect formidable thorn barriers as Groot, devour entire squads as Jeff the Land Shark, and indulge in frenzied combat as Wolverine. Regardless of the hero preference, it appears that Marvel Rivals caters to a wide range of choices. However, for those desiring a healer character, there may be room for improvement.
Currently, the selection for the Strategist role in Marvel Rivals is somewhat limited, boasting just seven playable characters. Although popular figures like Loki and Rocket Raccoon are included, most of the characters are not widely recognized. This combination of unfamiliar faces and limited choices has led some players to abandon the role entirely. However, NetEase Games possesses a vast array of Marvel characters that could be introduced in future updates to significantly enhance the Strategist role.
Marvel Rivals Has So Many Exciting Choices for New Strategists
Beast’s Scientific Mind Could Lead to Some Powerful Healing Buffs
A character who seems ideally suited for the Strategist position is Beast. As an integral member of the X-Men team, Beast consistently employs his sharp intellect in science to strengthen his comrades and provide aid during critical moments. He is recognized as a foremost expert in biochemistry and genetics, providing medical care to the X-Men, and educating students in science and mathematics at the Xavier Institute. Given his impressive qualifications, it seems odd that he wouldn’t be appointed as a Strategist once he makes his debut.
In a different phrasing: Beast might hurl bottles of enigmatic potions to revive his teammates or receive an extraordinary weapon that performs the task automatically. Additionally, his superhuman power could grant him armor-like characteristics, including a larger health reserve, protective barriers, and self-regeneration. To some extent, it would be as if The Incredible Hulk was granted the skill to heal his allies too, making Beast exceptionally formidable in combat.
Shuri Feels Like the Perfect Healer to Fight Alongside
Initially, Black Panther and the nation of Wakanda hold significant roles in Marvel Rivals. Yet, it’s surprising that no other characters from Wakanda have been included yet. Nevertheless, future updates might introduce changes. It’s worth noting that there are numerous characters NetEase could introduce, but including T’Challa’s sister Shuri would be particularly beneficial. She is deeply connected to Wakanda and is frequently depicted as the nation’s foremost scientific genius.
Due to her impressive intelligence, Shuri seems perfectly suited for a Strategist position. Utilizing her innovative creations, she can significantly boost and safeguard her teammates. Moreover, being an adept martial artist, she could be a formidable combatant in battlefields. If NetEase decided to explore more of her story beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they might even endow her with abilities such as resurrecting the dead or shielding herself with stone skin.
Agatha Harkness Could Put a Brand-New Spin on the Healing Role
If a player is looking for a more sinister healing character, Agatha Harkness might be an ideal choice given her recent solo series on Disney Plus. Known for wielding potent magic, she’s kept herself alive and caused harm to her adversaries since the beginning. Her unique abilities include controlling various magical energies and even absorbing the magic of others to boost her own power. This could offer a distinctly new type of healer in gameplay.
As a gamer, I might put it like this: In this gaming world, my character, Agatha Harkness, possesses an intriguing power. She can absorb the vitality of other heroes and pass it on to her teammates. This unique trait would make enemies wary of approaching me, but it also means I’ll be on the hunt for them. It sets up a captivating game of cat-and-mouse, a strategy rarely seen among healers. If executed skillfully, this ability could make Agatha one of the most distinctive characters in our game, offering a fresh and exciting gaming experience.
In addition to these characters, numerous others could seamlessly step into the Strategist position within Marvel Rivals. For instance, Doctor Strange, under Wong’s guidance, could employ a Strategist approach. Ultron might offer robotic armies as support for the team, and Professor X could use his mind-manipulation abilities to outsmart the opposition. Characters like Rocket or Luna Snow have shown that almost any hero could excel in this role with the right opportunity.
