He is a Duelist with a 3-star rating for difficulty. In the right hands, he can be a formidable foe. Moon Knight has quite a handful of abilities in his kit, which can take some time and practice getting used to.

His area of expertise is managing groups of opponents who engage in swarm tactics. But don’t let that fool you into thinking you can’t emerge victorious in one-on-one encounters. You merely need to think outside the box when it comes to evasion techniques if such a situation arises.

Moon Knight Abilities Explained

Ability Description
Crescent Dart Your primary fire lets you shoot 3 Crescent darts in front of you. These darts can bounce between other enemies and your Ankhs to deal extra damage.
Moon Blade Your alt-fire lets you shoot a large Moon blade in front of you, which, similar to Crescent darts, can ricochet between enemies and Ankhs.
Rising Leap Lets you perform a double jump.
Night Glider Use the Moon Knight’s cape to enter a gliding state.
Ancient Ankh Shoot an Ankh at your enemies to knock them airborne and pull them towards the center of the Ankh’s radius. Using your Crescent darts or Moon Blade on your enemies will make them bounce with the Ankh.
Moonlight Hook This is an excellent escape ability. Moon Knight can use a grappling hook in front, to pull himself towards it.
Triple Eclipse Moon Knight can do a combo with his truncheon when using melee attacks. The third strike launches the enemy up slightly.
Hand of Khonshu Moon Knight can place a circle in front of him which opens a portal that lets Khonshu barrage the enemy with his talons.

Give Moon Knight a bit of time to become familiar; start by experimenting with his abilities in the training arena prior to testing them out in fast-paced or competitive battles.

If his kit feels a bit overwhelming, you can try out other characters like the Punisher or Scarlet Witch, who are better suited for new players.

Moon Knight Offensive Strategies

  • Ankh placement matters: Moon Knight is an excellent hero for fighting hordes of enemies, but knowing where to place your Ancient Ankhs can help you shred them faster. For example, if there is an entry point that your enemy often uses to enter the battlefield. You can place an Ankh on the wall nearby. Once the enemy is in your line of sight, spam them with Crescent Darts.
  • Pre-fire before Ankh is placed: Since the Ancient Ankh can be a bit broken, your enemies can shoot to get rid of it. An interesting strategy is to shoot an ankh and then switch back to attacking the enemies with your primary and alt-fire while it gets placed. Once it is in position, your darts won’t just hit the enemy but will also bounce off the newly placed Ankh. This gives you an advantage until an enemy destroys it.
  • Aim for the head: Moon Knight’s Crescent darts deal extra damage when you hit your enemies with headshots. So, you should try as much as possible to shoot above chest level to have a higher chance of hitting the head. Just make sure that you don’t make it a priority to only hit headshots. Your primary goal should be to hit as many enemies as possible. But going for the head will ensure they go down that little bit faster.
  • Don’t waste Moon Blade: A single Moon Blade does a bit more damage than 3 Crescent Darts. But unlike the darts, this attack is a bit slower. Since it is also much larger than darts, you have to aim it a bit higher than the head if you are looking to hit a headshot with it. It also has a 6-second cooldown, so try as much as possible to land the hit when you use it.
  • Use the Hand of Khonshu in choke points: The talon attacks of Khonshu don’t hit the enemies all at once, rather it is a barrage of attacks. As such, any enemies with good mobility simply need to move out of the portal’s range to protect themselves. So, instead of spamming your ultimate as soon as it is available, look for opportunities where the enemies don’t have many ways to escape and trap them with your ultimate.

Moon Knight Defensive Strategies

  • Moonlight Hook is good for Quick Escapes: Unlike some other heroes, the Moon Knight doesn’t have any dash ability to let you escape your enemies. However, if you are aware of your surroundings, then a combo of Rising Leap with Moonlight Hook can be a great way to reach the skies and escape.
  • Try keeping an Ankh on you: With limited escape abilities, a good offense may just be your best line of defense. When you see an enemy like Spider-man or Iron Fist approaching you, throwing an Ancient Ankh on the ground near you, and spamming Crescent Darts on your enemy may kill them before they have a chance at eliminating you. If your Hook’s cooldown is about to reset, then you can also use your Ankh to knock back the enemy to get away from them.
  • Maintain your distance and keep changing positions: While playing Moon Knight, a useful trick that you can do is to not let the enemy recognize your play style. Try maintaining a safe distance from your enemy, as this hero is better suited for medium to long-ranged fights. Another good idea would be to keep changing your positions on the battlefield to keep your enemies on their toes.
  • Use Full Moon when playing with Cloak & Dagger: Being able to turn invisible can work wonders when trying to get away from an enemy. Make sure you keep your calm and do not spam it the moment someone sneaks up on you, as once you leave the dark realm, your enemies will be able to see you again.

After circling around an opponent and becoming undetectable, you might employ this tactic which can lead to a distraction, causing confusion in the enemy about the origin of the assaults.

Moon Knight Counters & How To Deal With Them

When my opponent’s team boasts agile flyers, swift web-slingers like Spider-Man, or characters with mobile fortifications such as Groot and his walls, I sometimes find myself questioning the wisdom of my choice in Moon Knight.

Among the adversaries who pose constant challenges for Moon Knight are those who can swiftly approach him or those who can handle him effectively from a far, secure position.

Keeping vigilant is key as Moon Knight, since unexpected attacks from either Spider-man or Iron Fist could inflict significant harm. It’s not always easy to evade their onslaught.

In addition to Moon Knight, you’ll find the Punisher equipped with his Elimination Turret challenging. Lastly, don’t forget to keep an eye out for sharpshooters such as Hawkeye and Black Widow. Be cautious, they can be troublesome!

Adjusting your battle strategy depends on the type of adversary you’re facing. For instance, when confronted with close-quarters combatants, it’s crucial to maintain a certain distance. On the other hand, if you’re up against snipers, moving closer becomes necessary.

For Moon Knight, the mid-range is generally the best choice when facing off against most opponents. Aim to master this range.

Best Team Comps With Moon Knight

For the strategist, Cloak & Dagger is the go-to hero. Full Moon is a very nice ability to have, as Moon Knight doesn’t have many escape options. So, he needs as much help as he can get.

What sets Cloak & Dagger apart is that they offer the dual functionality of a healer and a damage-dealer. This means you have the flexibility to adjust their roles based on your team requirements.

The character Peni Parker makes a captivating teammate for Moon Knight. Her Cyber-Web Snare proves effective in pinning down opponents, thereby allowing Moon Knight to target their heads more precisely and ensure victories.

As an ardent supporter, I’d recommend placing Arachno Mines strategically around Moon Knight during gameplay. This sneaky trick can catch any flanking adversaries off guard with a significant blow, making one-on-one encounters smoother for our beloved Moon Knight and boosting his chances of defeating them.
