What to Expect From Star Wars Games in 2025

As a seasoned video game enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the future of Star Wars games looks brighter than ever! With so many exciting projects in the pipeline, it’s hard not to get excited about what lies ahead for us gamers.

Although there have been some significant setbacks recently, the Star Wars franchise boasts an impressive lineup of upcoming projects. For instance, Season 2 of ‘Andor’ is scheduled for Disney+ in April 2025, to be followed by ‘Star Wars: Visions’ Season 3 later in the year. Additionally, ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 is under development, as well as a Mandalorian and Grogu movie, and a sequel focusing on Rey.

The world of Star Wars video games remains bustling with activity. Although no new Star Wars games are planned for release in 2025, it’s quite likely that fans will catch a glimpse of trailers for one or two upcoming Star Wars video game projects that are being developed.

What Star Wars Games Fans Can Expect to See in 2025

Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Is Getting a Modern Port in January

Over the past few years, Aspyr has been bringing various Star Wars video games to contemporary systems. These adaptations have received mixed feedback, but it’s fantastic that we can now play games like Star Wars: Republic Commando and the iconic Star Wars: Battlefront series on current consoles. However, these ports have also had their share of technical difficulties.

Despite other circumstances, Aspyr is gearing up for the launch of another Star Wars game in early 2025, specifically Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles. This lesser-known beat-em-up has been known for its tricky platforming mechanics, and it’s making a return to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, as well as PC on January 23, 2025.

Star Wars: Hunters is Getting a PC Port in January

Launched for mobile devices and Nintendo Switch in June, Star Wars: Hunters is a free-to-play hero shooter that emphasizes fast-paced arena combat. Although it received mixed reviews at its launch, there’s a possibility of renewed interest early next year, as the game will become available on Steam Early Access on January 27.

Star Wars Eclipse Could Get a New Trailer in 2025

Announced as far back as December 2021 at The Game Awards, Quantic Dream’s Star Wars: Eclipse has yet to make an appearance. Although Lisa Pendse, the Vice President of Marketing for Quantic Dream, affirmed during a September 2023 interview with IGN that Star Wars: Eclipse is actively being worked on, no further updates have been provided since then. It remains uncertain how far along in development Star Wars: Eclipse currently stands, but there’s a possibility that fans might get a new trailer to look forward to in 2025.

Bit Reactor’s Star Wars Strategy Game Could Be Revealed in 2025

In 2022, alongside a first-person shooter from Respawn Entertainment that was shelved earlier this year, Bit Reactor is working on a Star Wars strategy game. Although Bit Reactor is a fresh studio, it’s staffed with industry veterans, including several former developers from XCOM and Civilization. When Respawn’s Star Wars first-person shooter was scrapped in March, they swiftly confirmed that Bit Reactor’s strategy game (which Respawn is overseeing) is still under development.

Next year, there’s a good chance that the official unveiling of Bit Reactor’s Star Wars strategy game could become a reality for fans.

The Final Chapter of The Star Wars Jedi Series Could Be Revealed

As a dedicated Star Wars enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that although the FPS game from Star Wars is no more, Respawn Entertainment is tirelessly working on a new Star Wars project. During an Investor Day Presentation in September, Electronic Arts (EA) confirmed that Respawn is currently crafting the “final chapter” within the Star Wars Jedi series. With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor having been released last year, it’s likely we won’t catch a glimpse of its official reveal anytime soon; however, a tantalizing hint about its title or something similar might surface next year, keeping our anticipation high!

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Could Come Out of Hiding in 2025

One notable video game development with a lot of open turmoil recently, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, was unveiled during the September 2021 PlayStation Showcase. Aspyr was revealed as the game’s developer shortly after this announcement. However, just a few months later, whispers began to circulate implying that the remake might be facing difficulties.

In July 2022, Jason Schreier from Bloomberg released a report suggesting that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake had been postponed indefinitely after a presentation, and the dismissals of its design director and art director. Later on, it was whispered that Saber Interactive had assumed control over the development of KOTOR’s remake. Then, in April 2024, Saber Interactive’s CEO, Matthew Karch, affirmed that the remake was thriving and active.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve been eagerly waiting for updates on the development of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, but it seems we’re still in the dark about its progress. However, whispers suggest that 2025 might be the year this classic game returns, though I must admit, the chances appear slim at present.

Fans Could Get an Update on Skydance’s Star Wars Game

In April 2022, it was revealed that Skydance New Media is working on a new Star Wars video game, with Amy Hennig being given another chance to contribute to the franchise following the cancellation of Project Ragtag. Since the initial announcement in 2022, no further details about Skydance’s Star Wars project have been shared, and considering that they are set to release Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra next year, it appears that fans may not get any updates on this Star Wars game for a while.
