As an observer with a deep appreciation for sports anime, I must say that this latest episode of Blue Lock has been quite an exhilarating ride! Having followed the series from its inception, it’s fascinating to see the characters grow and evolve, each with their unique backstories that humanize them.
The ongoing match between Blue Lock and U-20 is showing a marked shift, as Shidou’s rampage from the previous episode appears to have lessened significantly. While his aggressive play was expected, it seems it has been scaled back for now. So far, we’ve delved into the history of the Itoshi brothers, and it’s refreshing to see another important character receiving attention and a well-crafted backstory.
The game progressed, with both teams showing their skills and determination. Notably, crucial players were slipping into a focused, peak performance state. At this juncture, the outcome could swing either way – will Isagi rise to the occasion and establish himself as the main character, or will we have to hold our breath until the final act? It seems like we’ll have to stay tuned!
From Striker To Defender
Was It A Compulsive Decision?
Exploring Aiku’s background offers a compelling explanation for his ambition to become the greatest defender of all time. Originally aiming to be the world’s best striker, a promising young talent who couldn’t realize his dream now seeks to outshine other strikers. It’s fascinating how many of his arguments resonate with us. Though his decision may have been premature, given that his coach rejected him, he does make valid points; had he persisted in pursuing his dream, Aiku’s life today would undoubtedly be different. Such is the unpredictability of fate.
Only those buds that adults choose to let grow will receive water; they refrain from allowing flowers they cannot manage to bloom. – Paraphrased by AI Assistant
In everyday life, we often encounter the raw, unyielding truth that those who are strong or powerful tend to dominate, and we must adapt to this reality, painful as it may be. However, learning about his past, particularly how he chooses to support the underdogs seeking growth, was touching. Though he might appear cold and calculating, beneath that exterior lies a compassionate individual.
The Chameleon Strikes Again
Counterattacking The Counterattack

The game carries on, and it appears that Blue Lock is launching a counterattack, yet Shidou snatches the ball and swiftly goes forward, only to be halted by Gagamaru with a stunning fish kick, which is astounding given his limited experience as a defender, especially a goalkeeper in Blue Lock. Yet, here we find ourselves watching these self-centered players giving their utmost best.
In this episode, the standout moment came when Reo mimicked Nagi’s daring maneuver to kick off their counteroffensive strategy. Blue Lock XI’s counterattack appeared meticulously planned, but unfortunately, they continued to overlook Sae in the process. Remarkably, Sae always managed to be where he was required most, thwarting Isagi’s goal attempt only for Rin to anticipate his move and deliver a pass on time. Additionally, an unseen player, Baro, entered the scene. In an amusing twist, with two players holding him back, Baro remained unfazed, slipped through them effortlessly, and netted a stunning equalizer, bringing the score back level.
Where Is The Protagonist?
Come On Isagi, Do Something!

It’s wonderful watching every character receive their due recognition, and with each player contributing equally in every play. We can’t help but ponder when our protagonist, Isagi, will finally get his moment in the spotlight? After all, he has been instrumental in setting up most of Blue Lock’s goals thus far, even though he hasn’t scored them himself. Isn’t it about time we let him take center stage?
It seems that’s what makes the show special; instead of solely focusing on the main character, it gives other characters their moment to shine as well. We still have some game time left in the second half, and with the score tied at 3-3, it won’t be long before Isagi solves his puzzle, potentially ending the game for everyone else.
In the latest installment, I noticed a significant enhancement in production quality, despite a few CGI scenes that seemed slightly jarring. However, overall, it’s clear that improvements have been made since the beginning. The episode was filled with engaging scenes, particularly the execution of Baro’s goal and the exposition of Aiku’s backstory. Compared to the last two episodes, this one was noticeably more tranquil, which could be a sign of the calm before the storm, as we anticipate the climactic finale next week. Here’s hoping that all the effort and resources have been poured into making this final episode a spectacular conclusion!
