As a die-hard fan who has followed Jujutsu Kaisen from its humble beginnings, I must say that the epilogue chapter was nothing short of a masterpiece. The way these two characters warmed up to each other was heartwarming, to say the least.

The epilogue of Jujutsu Kaisen’s series, which was unveiled along with the release of its last volume, has significantly enriched an ending that was already thrilling. Readers were treated to a 16-page epilogue featuring characters like Ozawa, Nobara, Panda, and even Sukuna. Fans were pleasantly surprised by Gege’s final volume, as it added depth to certain aspects of the narrative while also generating more curiosity about others.
Intriguingly enough, it was the segment on Sukuna and Uraume that truly captivated me within this epilogue. Here, we were granted a rare insight into their past, delving deep into the Heian period, where we learned how they initially crossed paths. Furthermore, we witnessed the journey that drew them closer together.
How Gege Teased Sukuna’s Past In JJK Chapter 271
- Fans saw a glimpse of Sukuna and Uraume walking together
- Sukuna raised Uraume himself
In the last chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was hinted at Sukuna and Uraume’s past. There, Sukuna confessed that he once faced a fork in the road, with two paths open to him: one leading to the path of hatred, as he ultimately chose, transforming into the monster he is now; or taking the path of love. Since Sukuna lost that choice, he harbored hope that in another life, he would choose differently. In addition, readers were shown an image of a young Uraume walking with Sukuna, comforting each other as they cried. This poignant scene suggested that Uraume and Sukuna had a profound connection in the Heian era, with Sukuna taking care of Uraume at that time.
Come with me child, I accidentally destroyed my cooler yesterday. – Sukuna
Indeed, this revelation sparked considerable curiosity among fans, leaving them eager for additional insights into Sukuna’s history. Ultimately, in JJK chapter 272, or the series finale, their anticipation was satisfied as they uncovered what transpired between these characters in their shared past.
It’s fair to conclude that JJK’s epilogue significantly deepened the bond between the characters, shedding light on Uraume’s unwavering loyalty towards Sukuna and why the King of Curses consistently stood by them throughout time, even after being transformed into a cursed artifact for centuries.
JJK’s Epilogue Reveals How Sukuna And Uraume Met
Uraume’s Uncontrollable Powers Led To The Death Of Their Family
Approximately four pages of the epilogue in JJK focused on these individuals, starting with a young Uraume encased in frost, found by Sukuna. It was evident that Uraume had endured a harrowing ordeal, and when questioned by Sukuna, they revealed their powers of freezing nearly everything had led to the destruction of their home and the death of their parents. Confused, Uraume seemed unaware of the circumstances, while Sukuna, despite being the King of Curses, showed signs of empathy for them. Though he didn’t overtly express his feelings, Sukuna did not abandon Uraume. This underscores that Sukuna harbors a tender side, particularly towards those he takes an interest in.
In essence, Sukuna requested Uraume to tag along due to his cooler being damaged, although it was probably just an alibi from the Curse King to keep the child by his side. Later on, spectators witnessed these two characters encounter a dead deer, at which point Sukuna instructed Uraume to harness their ice abilities to freeze the carcass to prevent decay. When Uraume exhibited signs of hunger, Sukuna suggested they eat, reasoning that one should dine whenever hungry and do as they please if they have the ability. Consequently, Uraume employed their culinary skills to prepare the meat. Interestingly, Sukuna later inquired whether it was possible for them to butcher humans and cook them.
Why Does Master Sukuna never feel cold around me? – Uraume
In a state of unease, Uraume found it odd that Sukuna seemed unaffected by the cold, as everyone else in their life had unintentionally become frozen. This chilling reality left Uraume deeply scarred, having taken the lives of those dear to them. However, even for an instant, Sukuna’s composure never wavered in the face of the cold. As the story unfolded, it mirrored their parting at the close of chapter 271 in JJK.
In response, Sukuna expressed that he felt a similar sentiment towards Uraume. Interestingly, Uraume never experienced any chills or fear in Sukuna’s presence. However, it should be noted that this statement from Sukuna is not to be taken literally, as he lacks the ability to freeze others. Instead, what Sukuna was trying to convey is that everyone else around him either feels threatened or intimidated by his powerful presence. Thus, Sukuna finds Uraume’s lack of fear towards him quite endearing, given that he is the King of Curses.
In this narrative, we see how these two characters gradually grew closer, eventually establishing a bond that spanned countless generations. For viewers, this brief flashback was a thrilling spectacle, offering not only entertainment but also a captivating introduction to the Heian period within JJK.
Will Gege Reveal More of The Heian Era?
Hopefully, If JJK Ever Continues, Fans Will Get A New Heian Era Flashback
In the concluding chapter of JJK, I was introduced to the captivating era of Heian, leaving me craving more. However, the author himself confirmed in his final volume that JJK has reached its conclusion, taking with him the valuable lessons he gleaned over the seven years of serialization. These insights will undoubtedly be applied to his future works. Currently, Gege is focusing on his health and considering writing a new manga at some point down the line. For now, it seems that there’s no immediate sign of additional JJK content appearing.
It’s confirmed that the creator of the series will carry on producing work within Jump, starting a new tale. Occasionally, there may be additional content related to JJK, like a one-shot by the author, but fans should not expect this regularly as there is currently no hint or promise of it.
Independent of whether JJK (Jujutsu Kaisen) carries on or concludes, fans can at minimum express that Sukuna’s encounter with Uraume was undeniably heartwarming. This emotional flashback had long been desired by fans, and now, the author of the series, Gege, has fulfilled this wish.
In addition to Sukuna, the epilogue of JJK delved into other characters as well, yet none stirred fans’ emotions quite like these two did. This further enhanced the complexity of both Sukuna and Uraume. Although fans were anticipating a lengthy flashback in the original narrative, they will gratefully accept this development because it is crucial to their characters’ stories.
In Japan, the concluding chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen was unveiled alongside its final volume on December 25, 2024. The English translation of this final volume is expected to be released sometime in the year 2025.
